There will be a Wood Turning Demonstration on Wednesday October 6 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm tutor Maritin Davy Ó Coisteadhla. All are welcome. Lessons start Wednesday evening the following week at 7 pm.

Weekly bus service to Castlebar
Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m. Please support this worthwhile service.

A SOCIAL welfare officer will be in attendance every Thursday between 12 noon and 1 p.m. at the Medical Centre, Tourmakeady.
Bumble Bee on stage
The brilliant Bumble Bee is on stage at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady, on Friday, September 23. On Friday, September 30, Glor Tire winner, Carmel McLoughlin will perform.
The weekly traditional music session is held every Sunday, from 8 p.m. until late, with top class musicians and singers.

GAA local lotto results
There was no winner of the GAA local lotto held on Saturday, September 10. The numbers chosen were 1, 4, 5 and 25. Consolation winners were the Gibbons family, Ennis-Partry, John Joe Joyce, Trianlar and Tony McDonnell, Goirtinmore. The next draw is on October 1, at The Lough Inn, with Brian Gibbons and team B on duty.

18th birthday celebration
Congratulations to Kerry Duffy, daughter of Cathy and Tom Duffy, Derrendafderg, Srah and also Stephen Staunton, son of Pauline and Joe Staunton, Shanvallyard, Tourmakeady, both of whom celebrated their 18th birthday with a joint function at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady. Kerry is granddaughter of Mrs. Eileen Duffy (nee Flanagan), Derrendafderg.
First mini-marathon
The first ever Tourmakeady mini-marathon will be held on August 4, 2012. All proceeds will be going to the new pairc spraoi (playground) in the village of Tourmakeady.
Everyone can enter and choose to run, walk or jog. It forms part of the 2012 Tourmakeady parish reunion, which will be held from July 21, 2012 to August 5, 2012.
Events will also include beat on the street, a barbecue, golf classic, American tea party, GAA games, a trip on Lough Mask and a reunion dinner.
Social dancing
A new season of social dancing will commence in Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant, on Wednesday, September 21, at 8.30 p.m. It was a huge success last time. Everyone is welcome to attend this enjoyable class, which is open to males and females.
Art exhibition and craft work
An art exhibition and craft work will be displayed in the old school house, Tuam Road, Kilmaine, on the weekend of September 23, on Friday, from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. It costs €10 to display a picture or three for €25. Meeting for sheep farmers
A special meeting for sheep farmers will take place at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant, on Thursday, September 29. A talk will be given at the meeting by Mr. Conal Finnerty.
21st birthday celebrations
Congratulations to Catherine Burke, daughter of John and Judy Burke, Cappaduff, Tourmakeady, who celebrated her 21st birthday recently. Catherine is granddaughter of Maureen Heneghan, Tawnagh and the Burke family Cappaduff. Catherine is also well-known in the green and red colours of Mayo ladies GAA circles.
Cannonball run
Thanks to everyone who supported the cannonball run in aid of Barrestown, the activity camp for seriously ill children. The sum of €750 was donated from Ballyovey parish and €150 was raised nationally.
Lotto winners
Lotto winners for week 14 were James Reynolds and John Ruane. The bonus number was 10. The week 15 winners were Mattie Lally and Tom Carney and the bonus number was 33.
Waterfall committee meeting

Tourmakeady 2012 parish reunion meeting
The next meeting of the Tourmakeady 2012 parish reunion will be held on Wednesday, September 14, at 9 p.m. at Tourmakeady hall. Tourmakeady’s first ever mini-marathon will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 1 p.m. Participants can run, walk or jog and all proceeds will go to the Pairc Spraot playground, at Tourmakeady village. The gala dinner will take place on August 3.
Coffee evening donations
If anyone missed out on the annual coffee evening for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation, on Friday last in Tourmakeady hall, donations can be given to Noreen Maloney or Michael John Casey before Sunday, September 18.

It is time to think about the Waterfall Magazine and look for photographs or write stories and articles for the 2011 edition.
Death in New York
The death has taken place recently of Mrs. Norah Maloney, The Bronx, New York. She was formerly Norah Burke, Goirtinmore, Tourmakeady and was sister of the late Annie (Nance) Burke, Mary Walsh and Delia Helf. Norah was also predeceased by her husband John and her son Michael J. Burial took place in The Gate of Heaven cemetery, New York. May her soul rest in peace.
John Beag O’Flaherty on stage
John Beag O’Flaherty with his top hit Come Follow Me will be on stage at Marie Lukes, on Friday, September 16. On Friday, September 23, The Bumble Bee will perform and on Friday, September 30, the Glor Tire winner Carmel McLaughlin will appear. Tourmakeady 2012 parish reunion meeting
The next meeting of the Tourmakeady 2012 parish reunion will be held on Wednesday, September 14, at 9 p.m. at Tourmakeady hall. Tourmakeady’s first ever mini-marathon will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 1 p.m. Participants can run, walk or jog and all proceeds will go to the Pairc Spraot playground, at Tourmakeady village. The gala dinner will take place on August 3.
Coffee evening donations

Death in New York
The death has taken place recently of Mrs. Norah Maloney, The Bronx, New York. She was formerly Norah Burke, Goirtinmore, Tourmakeady and was sister of the late Annie (Nance) Burke, Mary Walsh and Delia Helf. Norah was also predeceased by her husband John and her son Michael J. Burial took place in The Gate of Heaven cemetery, New York. May her soul rest in peace.
John Beag O’Flaherty on stage
John Beag O’Flaherty with his top hit Come Follow Me will be on stage at Marie Lukes, on Friday, September 16. On Friday, September 23, The Bumble Bee will perform and on Friday, September 30, the Glor Tire winner Carmel McLaughlin will appear. Wedding bells
ON Thursday, September 1, at St. Mary’s church, Tourmakeady, the marriage and papal blessing took place between Ms. Caroline Conway, daughter of Peggy and Padraig Conway, Drimcoggy, Tourmakeady and Mark Reddington, son of P. J. and the late Angela Reddington, Dunmore, Co. Galway.
The ceremony was performed by Fr. John Kenny P.P. Memorable music was performed by the Dunmore choir, with director Joan McDonnell and organist Eoghan Connolly. Matron of honour was Barbara Neachtain. Bridesmaids were Maureen Varley, Louise Moran and Rachel Martin. Best man was David Kirrane and groomsmen were Ciaran Comer, Matthew Reddington and David Reddington. Flower girls were Shauna Conway, Caoimhe and Siofra Neachtain. Page boy was Conor Neachtain.
Following the official duties at St. Mary’s, the reception was held at the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport.
The couple are now on a prize winning honeymoon in Thailand, Bangkok and Bali. They are wished good health and happiness.
GAA lotto results
THERE was no outright winner of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto held at The Village Inn, Partry. The numbers drawn were 13, 26, 27 and 28. Consolation prizes went to Richard O’Toole, Cappaduff; Tom Gibbons, Lough Mask Inn; Frank Steffenf, Upper Churchfield; Liam Heneghan, Shangort and Peter Garry, Partry. The next draw is at Máire Lukes, Tourmakeady, on Saturday, September 10, with Danny Lydon and team J on duty.
Underage soccer meeting
A MEETING to discuss the future of Underage soccer will take place in Partry community centre, on Wednesday, September 7, at 8.30 p.m.
This meeting will be used to determine the level of support from families for the continuation of the Underage soccer in Partry for the next season. It is essential that one parent from each family attends this meeting.

Junior angling competition
THE Tourmakeady anglers held the first of the junior angling competitions on Saturday last, on Lough Mask.
First was Megan Ronan, with one trout, 4lbs 5oz. Second was Sean O’Brien, with one trout, 1lb 4oz. Third was Christopher Jones, one trout, 1lb 2oz. Fourth was Rebecca Ronan, one trout 1lb 0oz.
The second competition will be held on Saturday, September 10. The draw will take place at 10.15 a.m. at Churchfield Bay and fishing will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All boys and girls are welcome to the bay.
Senior footballers in action
TOURMAKEADY senior footballers take on Charlestown, in the final of the 2011 relegation of senior football, later on in September.
On Sunday last the senior league game Parke v Tourmakeady was called off when once again the referee failed to turn up at Tourmakeady.
Annual Molloy Cup
On Sunday, September 11, the annual Molloy Cup will be fished for on Lough Mask. The draw will take place at Churchfield Bay, at 10.15 a.m. with competitors on the lake at 11 a.m. The weigh-in is at The Lough Mask Inn, Tourmakeady. Everyone is welcome for a great day on Lough Mask.

Following the official duties at St. Mary’s, the reception was held at the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport.
The couple are now on a prize winning honeymoon in Thailand, Bangkok and Bali. They are wished good health and happiness.
GAA lotto results
THERE was no outright winner of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto held at The Village Inn, Partry. The numbers drawn were 13, 26, 27 and 28. Consolation prizes went to Richard O’Toole, Cappaduff; Tom Gibbons, Lough Mask Inn; Frank Steffenf, Upper Churchfield; Liam Heneghan, Shangort and Peter Garry, Partry. The next draw is at Máire Lukes, Tourmakeady, on Saturday, September 10, with Danny Lydon and team J on duty.
Underage soccer meeting
A MEETING to discuss the future of Underage soccer will take place in Partry community centre, on Wednesday, September 7, at 8.30 p.m.
This meeting will be used to determine the level of support from families for the continuation of the Underage soccer in Partry for the next season. It is essential that one parent from each family attends this meeting.
Partry Athletic F.C. would like to thank everyone who took part in the bag pack in Tesco, Ballinrobe. The total amount raised on the day was €408.06.

THE winners of Partry Athletic lotto draw for the month of August were on August 8, John and Teresa Horan and Jim O’Neill; on August 13, Peter and Una Gibbons; on August 20, Ciaran Hennelly and on August 27, Donal Bourke.
Junior angling competition
THE Tourmakeady anglers held the first of the junior angling competitions on Saturday last, on Lough Mask.
First was Megan Ronan, with one trout, 4lbs 5oz. Second was Sean O’Brien, with one trout, 1lb 4oz. Third was Christopher Jones, one trout, 1lb 2oz. Fourth was Rebecca Ronan, one trout 1lb 0oz.
The second competition will be held on Saturday, September 10. The draw will take place at 10.15 a.m. at Churchfield Bay and fishing will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All boys and girls are welcome to the bay.
Senior footballers in action
TOURMAKEADY senior footballers take on Charlestown, in the final of the 2011 relegation of senior football, later on in September.
On Sunday last the senior league game Parke v Tourmakeady was called off when once again the referee failed to turn up at Tourmakeady.
Annual Molloy Cup
On Sunday, September 11, the annual Molloy Cup will be fished for on Lough Mask. The draw will take place at Churchfield Bay, at 10.15 a.m. with competitors on the lake at 11 a.m. The weigh-in is at The Lough Mask Inn, Tourmakeady. Everyone is welcome for a great day on Lough Mask.

Weekly bus service to Castlebar
Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m. Please support this worthwhile service.

A SOCIAL welfare officer will be in attendance every Thursday between 12 noon and 1 p.m. at the Medical Centre, Tourmakeady.
Tourmakeady 2012 reunion
PLANS are progressing well for the 2012 Tourmakeady reunion.
The main event is the 10th anniversary dinner, which will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012.
Other items on the programme include beat on the street, Tourmakeady’s first marathon, American tea party, céilí mór, golf classic, football tournament for ladies and gents, car treasure hunt and fishing competition. A barbecue night will end the reunion on August 5, 2012.
Accommodation is already being snapped up. If anyone has accommodation availability please contact the reunion committee at (087) 6883624. Once again the dates of the reunion are July 21 to August 5, 2012.
Annual fishing competition
PARTRY trout anglers held their annual fishing competition and confined draw, on Sunday, August 14. One hundred and sixty six anglers signed on at The Lough Inn, on Sunday morning. This was an increase of over 40 anglers from 2010. Conditions were ideal.
First were Brian McNerney and Seamus O’Loughlin, five fish (11-04-02). Second were Eddie Hynes and Brian Madden, four fish (8-7-08). Third were Jimmie Acton and Declan Martin, two fish (7-12-08). Winner of the heaviest fish were Tom Byrne and Kevin Bradley (3-04-04). Secret W.T.T. John Brennan and Kevin Wewhan.
Seventy fish were caught in the competition.
In the confined draw first prize of a boat went to Vincent Horan, Partry. Second prize of €650, went to Tom Byrne, Partry. Third prize of €300 went to Tom Byrne, Partry. Fourth prize of €130 went to Mike Keady, Galway. Fifth prize of €75 went to Martin Healy, Ballinrobe.
The organising committee would like to thank the sponsors including The Lough Inn, Partry, Snap Printing, Outdoor Pursuits, Greys, Jackie Mahon, Tom and Mary Feeney, Burke Boats, Mask Cottage, Ballinrobe Credit Union, FBD Insurance, Costello and McDermott, Rory Harkin and Dennis Harrington.
The monies raised have been invested into the ongoing development of spawning streams and rivers in the Carra- Mask catchment area. Some of the beneficiaries are Scardaun Stream, Ballyheane Stream, Buncom Stream, Clonee Stream and Brownstown Stream.
The club has made a large donation towards the recent genetic study of brown trout in Lough Mask and the number of juvenile brown trout seen this year is encouraging.
Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and to those who sold tickets and to everyone who helped to make this event a success.
