Senior footballers league win
TOURMAKEADY senior footballers got off to their first league win of 2011, with a good 3-8 to 0-13 win over Moy Davitts, at Tourmakeady, on Easter Sunday. Goals came from the boots of Kevin Dolan, Brian Heneghan and Michéal Ronan.
Group water scheme
TOURMAKEADY group water scheme rates are now due and should be paid to Tourmakeady post office. The rates are €150 for a house; €250 for a house and land and €250 for a business. Invoices with arrears will be sent out soon. Funds are low and the group needs the money urgently.
Paddy’s Restaurant
PADDY’S Restaurant in Tourmakeady, is now open to the public every Sunday until September, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Sunday lunch and dinner. Bookings can be made at (094) 95 44005 on Monday to Saturday and on (094) 9544243 on Sunday.
Death in London
THE death has taken place in London, of Mick Kelly, a native of County Clare and husband of May Naughton, Ballybannon, Tourmakeady.
Mick was a regular visitor to Tourmakeady prior to his illness. He had a keen interest in GAA affairs and he was involved in the GAA in London.
He is survived by his wife May, two daughters and one son and extended family members. He was brother-in-law of Pat Naughton, Ballybannon.
He will be laid to rest in London this week. May his soul rest in peace.
New lotto
PARTRY Athletic Soccer Club is starting a new lotto in May. It will cost €10 per month. Anyone wishing to join can contact any member of the team or club now.
The club is organising basic defibrillator training at a cost of €60 per person. The course is open to anyone in the community. Contact (086) 3095543 as soon as possible. It is a very important course for everyone.
Bumble Bee on stage
ON stage at Máire Lukes Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady, on Friday, April 29, is the great Bumble Bee, with a show for young and old. The doors open at 9 p.m.

Death of Michael Vahey
MICHAEL Vahey, London, died last week. He was a native of Creggduff, Ballinrobe and a former employee of Colaisti Muire, Tourmakeady. He was husband of Nora Morrin, Ballybannon, Tourmakeady.
He is survived by a sister Mary and extended family members. Burial will take place later this week in Tourmakeady. Details are available from (094) 95 44005. May Michael’s soul rest in peace.

THE annual May day Mass at the grotto in Tourmakeady, will be at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday, May 1. It is advisable to be early because of parking. It is the normal Sunday Mass, in Tourmakeady.

THE annual 25 card game was held, in St. Mary’s hall, on Good Friday, April 22. Winners were first Martin Heneghan and Tomas O Máille; second Owen Dermody and Patrick Lydon; third Julia Lally and Maureen Heneghan. Condolences to the family of the late Kate Callan, Shanvallyard
Tourmakeady GAA club extends condolences to the family of the late Kate Callan, grand-aunt of current club players Martin and Kevin Lally and Patricia Lally, Derryveeney. Kate was married to the late John Callan, a man whose name is revered in the annals of Tourmakeady GAA Club for the wonderful contribution he made to promoting and developing Gaelic football in our parish. Silver circle and county board tickets for sale
The Tourmakeady GAA silver circle lotto tickets are now for sale. For €100, you can purchase a year’s entry into the Tourmakeady GAA lottery, entitling you to enter your numbers into 52 weekly draws. The current jackpot stands at almost €9,000. Mayo County Board Development draw tickets are also currently for sale, priced at €100, with a total prize fund of €100,000 across six monthly draws, commencing shortly. Following the popularity of Tourmakeady GAA hoodies last year, we’ve decided to set up a new club merchandise facility where our supporters can buy a range of T-shirts, jackets and baseball caps online, in a choice of styles and colours. This new service will be launched soon. It is provided by a Mayo company (based in Castlebar), supporters deal directly with the company, they guarantee a quick turnaround, you can call in to their shop in person to check out sizes, and the club receives five per cent of all sales. Further details will be announced shortly.

Thank you to Father Kenny for helping us to keep everyone informed about Community Futures. Thank you to everyone that helped us deliver the project over the last 6 months. Thank you to the Coiste Cultúr Teanga agus Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh for providing the hall and all its facilities for Community Futures and in particular for the Open Day. Thank you to all the helpers that were in early on Sunday morning to help clean and prepare the hall and the area outside and to bring in additional equipment for the hall. Thank you to those that helped with the refreshments. Thank you to the donators of cakes, buns, sweets and chocolates. The wonderful weather helped make it great day for everyone. We are very grateful to all the clubs and organisations that took so much trouble with their displays which were all so impressive, the Lough Mask lifeboat, the ambulances, the fishing boat and all the additional activities. Thank you to the local people that came and gave us an idea of the many small to medium size businesses that are being developed in Tourmakeady. Finally to you the community of Tourmakeady thank you for coming on the day and supporting the work of Community Futures.
The results of the day will be published in a brochure. The brochure which will be our Action Plan will be launched hopefully sometime in June and will be available to the members of the community.

First dawn Mass in Tourmakeady
COME the dawn on Easter Sunday, April 24, the first ever dawn Mass, in Tourmakeady, will be celebrated at 6 a.m. at the lay-by, on the shores of Lough Mask, at Shanvalleyard, on the Partry to Tourmakeady Road, approximately three miles into the Gaeltacht.
Following Mass, a cup of tea and a scone will be served and a céad mile failte awaits you for the Mass celebrated by F. John Kenny.
Big 25 card game
PARTRY Athletic Soccer Club is holding a big 25 card game in the community centre, Partry, on Good Friday, April 22, at 9 p.m. sharp. Funds raised will go towards the continued development of the club. There will be spot prizes and the cost is €10 per player. Everyone is welcome and support would be appreciated.
Restaurant at Máire Lukes open
THE restaurant at Máire Lukes in Tourmakeady, is now open every Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Booking is advisable, at (094) 9544080. Bookings are now being taken for first communion day, May 22.

Tourmakeady group water scheme
TOURMAKEADY group water scheme rates are now due and should be paid to Tourmakeady post office. The rate for a house is €150; for a house and land €250 and for a business €250. Invoices with arrears will be sent out soon as funds are low and the group needs the money urgently.

Passion play in Ballintubber grounds
ENTER into the drama of Holy Week by experiencing the passion play in the grounds of Ballintubber Abbey, on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 19 and 20, at 9 p.m. It lasts for one hour.

TOURMAKEADY minor footballers had another great away victory over Achill, on Friday, in the Mayo minor league. The final score was Tourmakeady 4-9 to Achill 0-6. Last week Tourmakeady had an easy victory away to Ardmoy.

The Coiste Pobail is very disappointed that a lot of damage was caused recently in the area at the entrance to the wood and at the football pitch. This anti-social behaviour has no place in the community and is unacceptable. These matters are being investigated by the Gardai and anyone with information can give it in confidence to the Gardai, at (094) 9544003 or (086) 8584806.
A new community alert scheme is starting and anyone interested in getting a form can contact any of the above members. Please be vigilant around the area in view of the above anti-social behaviour. If anyone sees strange cars, acting suspiciously, take the registration number and report it to the Gardai on the above numbers. It is in everybody’s interest to keep the area safe and crime free. Double celebration
IT was a double celebration in the Cox household, Gortfree, Tourmakeady, recently, when Aoife Cox, daughter of Mary and Michael Cox announced her engagement to Mr. Johnny McGee, Gortahork, Co. Donegal. And, last week Danny Cox, son of Mary and Michael, became engaged to Ms. Emma Witort, Churchfield, Tourmakeady. The best of luck is extended to both couples.

Thank you to Father Kenny for helping us to keep everyone informed about Community Futures. Thank you to everyone that helped us deliver the project over the last 6 months. Thank you to the Coiste Cultúr Teanga agus Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh for providing the hall and all its facilities for Community Futures and in particular for the Open Day. Thank you to all the helpers that were in early on Sunday morning to help clean and prepare the hall and the area outside and to bring in additional equipment for the hall. Thank you to those that helped with the refreshments. Thank you to the donators of cakes, buns, sweets and chocolates. The wonderful weather helped make it great day for everyone. We are very grateful to all the clubs and organisations that took so much trouble with their displays which were all so impressive, the Lough Mask lifeboat, the ambulances, the fishing boat and all the additional activities. Thank you to the local people that came and gave us an idea of the many small to medium size businesses that are being developed in Tourmakeady. Finally to you the community of Tourmakeady thank you for coming on the day and supporting the work of Community Futures.
The results of the day will be published in a brochure. The brochure which will be our Action Plan will be launched hopefully sometime in June and will be available to the members of the community.

First dawn Mass in Tourmakeady
COME the dawn on Easter Sunday, April 24, the first ever dawn Mass, in Tourmakeady, will be celebrated at 6 a.m. at the lay-by, on the shores of Lough Mask, at Shanvalleyard, on the Partry to Tourmakeady Road, approximately three miles into the Gaeltacht.
Following Mass, a cup of tea and a scone will be served and a céad mile failte awaits you for the Mass celebrated by F. John Kenny.

The results of the Community Futures Survey - Open Day April 17
On Sunday April 17 from 3.00pm to 6.00pm there will be a Special Open Day for the Community. The results of the Community Futures Survey will be on display. This is an open invitation which is extended to everyone to visit Tourmakeady Hall and to help prioritise the projects that have been proposed for the future. Do please remind your family, friends and neighbours about the day and to come along. There will be many of the clubs, organisations and businesses in the area that will be in attendance. There will be plenty of activities such as target practice with the Gun Club, live fish from the lake with the Angling Club, Driving simulator, the results of the pictures and slogans from the two participating national schools, the Lough Mask rescue boat and much more plus refreshments and a bouncing castle on the day. Please take this opportunity to enjoy an afternoon out that will also give you an idea of future plans for Tourmakeady.

A HUGE crowd is expected at Colaiste Muire Tuar Mhic Eadaigh, on Thursday, April 14, at 7.30 p.m. for the staging of Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa, by the transition year students of Colaiste Muire. Admission is €10 for adults and for students and old age pensioners €7. A great night is assured and it is advisable to come early for the better seats.

WhistleBlast Quartet
THE WhistleBlast Quartet is coming to Tourmakeady national school, on April 12 and 13, to facilitate workshops and concerts with the children.
On Wednesday, April 13, at 6 p.m. there will be a free family concert for all the community, in St. Mary’s church, Tourmakeady. Everyone is welcome to come along.
Some of the children of Tourmakeady national school will end the concert with a peformance of a piece they have composed with the quarted.
The WhistleBlast Quartet is funded by Mayo County Counil, The Arts Council and the National Concert Hall Learn and Explore Programme.

PARTRY Athletics Under 17 boys had a good 4-1 victory over Straide and Foxford last week, in Partry. Partry Under 15 girls had a great 2-2 draw against Castlebar, in Castlebar.

PRESENTATION day is on Saturday, April 16. All parents are welcome at the pool that day. The committee would like to thank all parents who helped with the bag packing. All fees must be paid up-to-date as soon as possible.

THANK you to everyone who supported the bring and buy sale last Sunday. A total of €232.05 was raised on the day. Also thank you for the recent anonymous donation of €200. The €5,000 target has been exceeded. Proceeds are in support of Chupanga, for the purchase of a much needed irrigation system. It is expected Fr. Eamon Aylward, who introduced this project to the parish, will visit in the near future.

The results of the Community Futures Survey - Open Day April 17
On Sunday April 17 from 3.00pm to 6.00pm there will be a Special Open Day for the Community. The results of the Community Futures Survey will be on display. This is an open invitation which is extended to everyone to visit Tourmakeady Hall and to help prioritise the projects that have been proposed for the future. Do please remind your family, friends and neighbours about the day and to come along. There will be many of the clubs, organisations and businesses in the area that will be in attendance. There will be plenty of activities such as target practice with the Gun Club, live fish from the lake with the Angling Club, Driving simulator, the results of the pictures and slogans from the two participating national schools, the Lough Mask rescue boat and much more plus refreshments and a bouncing castle on the day. Please take this opportunity to enjoy an afternoon out that will also give you an idea of future plans for Tourmakeady.

A HUGE crowd is expected at Colaiste Muire Tuar Mhic Eadaigh, on Thursday, April 14, at 7.30 p.m. for the staging of Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa, by the transition year students of Colaiste Muire. Admission is €10 for adults and for students and old age pensioners €7. A great night is assured and it is advisable to come early for the better seats.

Connaught boxing titles won
CONGRATULATIONS to Tourmakeady duo boxers who both won Connaught boxing titles at the weekend. Frank Carr, son of Brid and Frank Carr, Cappaduff and also Stephen Staunton, son of Maureen and Martin Staunton, Ballybannon, are now through to the All-Ireland semi-finals and they will represent St. Ann’s boxing club, Westport, Mayo and Connaught, in Dublin. Sisters die in week
THE death has taken place at the Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, of Mrs. Cate Callan, Shanvalleyard, Tourmakeady. Cate passed away following a short illness on her 94th birthday.
She was born Cate Lally, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady, on March 26, 1917. She emigrated to England to earn a living and married a Monaghan man John Callan. They returned to retire in Tourmakeady in 1977 and John was called to his eternal reward in July 2004.
Cate worked hard all her life. She enjoyed company and could and did converse in any subject of the day and then gave her verdict. She loved to read books and the daily papers. She appreciated all the care she got and gave great credit to Margaret.
On Monday, her remains were removed from St. Mary’s funeral home to the local church. Burial took place on Tuesday, after 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny p.p. Readings were given by her nieces. Music and songs were by Mary Hoban. Reflection was given by Sean Lally.
Cate is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mayo, Meath England and the USA. Also neighbours, cousins and great grand nephews and grandnieces.
She was predeceased by her sister Mary Duffy, in Co. Meath, the previous week. Mary who was also Lally, was married to Joe Duffy, a native of Letterineen, Tourmakeady.
Mary is survived by her son and daughters and extended family. Burial took place last week in Meath. May the souls of Cate and Mary rest in peace.

Dear Frankie, the play about the life of the iconic Radio Eireann agony aunt, Frankie Byrne, is playing in Tourmakeady Hall for one night only on April 16 @ 8pm. Community Open Day April 17
On Sunday April 17 from 3.00pm to 6.00pm there will be a Special Open Day for the Community. The results of the Community Futures Survey will be on display. This is an open invitation which is extended to everyone to visit Tourmakeady Hall and to prioritise the projects that have been proposed. Do please remind your family, friends and neighbours about the day and to come along. There will be many of the clubs, organisations and businesses in the area that will be in attendance. There will be activities, refreshments and a bouncing castle on the day.

GAA local lotto continues to rise
TOURMAKEADY GAA local lotto continues to rise and will be at €8,200 on Saturday night, April 9. The numbers chosen last week’s were 19, 20, 26 and 30. Consolation winners were Andy Gibbons, Goirtin a Colle; David Hughes, Carnacon; Sarah Mulroe, Goirtinmore; Patricia Heneghan, Churchfield and Bridie Lally, Tourmakeady. Tickets at €2 each or three for €5 are on sale throughout the parish. Silver circle tickets are also available, with some recent winners.
Tourmakeady group water scheme
WATER rates are due for 2011, for houses €150; for a house and land €250 and a business €250. Invoices will be sent out with arrears on them. Payment can be made at Tourmakeady post office. Funds are very low so money is needed fast to keep the system running.
Connaught boxing titles won
CONGRATULATIONS to Tourmakeady duo boxers who both won Connaught boxing titles at the weekend. Frank Carr, son of Brid and Frank Carr, Cappaduff and also Stephen Staunton, son of Maureen and Martin Staunton, Ballybannon, are now through to the All-Ireland semi-finals and they will represent St. Ann’s boxing club, Westport, Mayo and Connaught, in Dublin. Well done to the boys. They are now following in the footsteps of Greg Heraty.

THE penance service will be held as part of the Mass next weekend, April 8, 9 and 10. On Friday, at 6.30 p.m. Bunaún. On Saturday, at 8 p.m. in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh. On Sunday, Partry, at 10 a.m. and Tuar Mhic Éadaigh, at 11. 30 a.m. Everyone is invited to take this opportunity to prepare for Easter.
Passion play in Ballintubber grounds

10th anniversary parish reunion
THE 10th anniversary of Tourmakeady’s first ever parish reunion will be celebrated in 2012, in Tourmakeady, during the week of July 27 to August 5, 2012. If anyone has any ideas or wishes to help out please call (087) 6883624. There will be meetings taking place in the near future.
Sisters die in week
THE death has taken place at the Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, of Mrs. Cate Callan, Shanvalleyard, Tourmakeady. Cate passed away following a short illness on her 94th birthday.
She was born Cate Lally, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady, on March 26, 1917. She emigrated to England to earn a living and married a Monaghan man John Callan. They returned to retire in Tourmakeady in 1977 and John was called to his eternal reward in July 2004.
Cate worked hard all her life. She enjoyed company and could and did converse in any subject of the day and then gave her verdict. She loved to read books and the daily papers. She appreciated all the care she got and gave great credit to Margaret.
On Monday, her remains were removed from St. Mary’s funeral home to the local church. Burial took place on Tuesday, after 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny p.p. Readings were given by her nieces. Music and songs were by Mary Hoban. Reflection was given by Sean Lally.
Cate is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mayo, Meath England and the USA. Also neighbours, cousins and great grand nephews and grandnieces.
She was predeceased by her sister Mary Duffy, in Co. Meath, the previous week. Mary who was also Lally, was married to Joe Duffy, a native of Letterineen, Tourmakeady.
Mary is survived by her son and daughters and extended family. Burial took place last week in Meath. May the souls of Cate and Mary rest in peace.

PARTRY Athletic soccer club is to hold a big 25 card game in Partry community centre, on Good Friday night, April 22. There will be lots of prizes and surprises on the night. Full support is requested and there will be more details later.

Died in Lancashire
THE death has taken place in Darwin, Lancashire, of Padraig Morrin, formerly of Ballybannon, Tourmakeady. He was brother of the late Máirtin Morrin, Ballybannon.
The late Padraig is survived by his sister, Nora Vahey, London, and brother Sean, Lancashire. He was brother-in-law of Irene Morrin, Ballybannon.
Mass will be celebrated in Tourmakeady for the repose of his soul.
Western Alzheimer tea day
THE annual tea day in aid of the Western Alzheimer Foundation will be held in the home of Eileen and Sean Barker, at Néad on Dreelín, Gortfree, from 4 p.m. onwards. The usual support is requested and donations wil be very welcome.

The late Jimmy Murray
THE death took place in Castlebar of Jimmy Murray, Shongort, Srah, Tourmakeady.
The late Jimmy, who was in his mid-90s, passed away after a long illness.
His remains were removed from St. Mary’s Funeral Home, Tourmakeady, to the local church. Buriel took place on Sunday, March 20, following Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P., Tourmakeady. The readers were Michael Heneghan and Phil Maguire who were friends of the late Jimmy. The musicial tunes were provided by Shauna O’Malley.
Jimmy is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and hospital staff and management, Castlebar.
Celebrated 18th birthday
CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Cathy Heneghan, daughter of Mary and Michael Heneghan, Kilfoul, Partry, who celebrated her 18th birthday. To mark the occasion, Cathy who is a pupil in Colaiste Mhuire Tuar Mhic Eadaigh, was joined by family and friends for a party in the Village Inn, Partry.

A REMINDER to all set and céile dancers of a céile mór in Partry Community Centre on Saturday next, April 2. The music will be provided by Anally céile band and there will be plenty of sideshows including refreshments and raffles.

Wedding bells
ST. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, was the setting on St. Patrick’s Day for the wedding of Miss Martina Collins, daughter of Mary and the late Seamus Colins, Shanvallycahil, Tourmakeady, and Kevin Dolan, son of Nuala and Paddy Dolan, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady.
The bride was handed over by her brother Jimmy Collins, and the ceremony was performed by Fr. John Kenny P.P. Tourmakeady. The maid of honour was Jennifer Heneghan and the bridesmaids were Cathy Colins, Molly McGing and Linda Joyce. The best man was Adrian Dolan and groomsmen were Joe Dolan, Brian Dolan and Danny Lydon. Finn Collins was the pageboy and the music was provided by Órla ni Cheallaigh agus Michael O’Súilleabháin.
The reception was held in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris.
Both Kevin (who was captain of the Tourmakeady team which won the Mayo Intermediate championship title last year) and Martina are wished a long and happy life together.

ON Friday next the annual Tea Day for Western Alzheimer’s will be held in the home of Maura and Dick Gibbons, Gallagh, Tourmakeady. It is open to everyone from 5 p.m. onwards and your support wil be most welcome.

Died in Meath
THE death took place in Meath of Mrs. Mary Duffy who was formally Mary Lally of Derryveeney, Tourmakeady. Buriel took place in Meath last week.
The late Mary is survived by her family and was aunt of Martin and Patsy Lally, Tourmakeady, and sister of Kate Callen, Shanvallyard, who passed away on Saturday last. Her buriel will take place in Tourmakeady following 11 a.m. Mass today (Tuesday).

THE latest winners in the Tourmakeady hall bonus number game are Paddy & Kathleen Gibbons and Martin Prendergast. Both families receive €100 each for having number 10. There will be more winners on Saturday. Reminder Lotto 1 starts again April 16 your continued support is much appreciated.
Over 60’s
The Over 60’s club meets Thursdays in Tourmakeady Hall from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. All welcome.
Knitting Club
The knitting club meets on Mondays in the hall at 7.30pm. All welcome.
Parent and Toddler Group - Nead na n-óg Halla Thuar Mhic Éadaigh
The Parent and Toddler Group meet Tuesdays in the hall 10.30am to 12.15pm. All welcome.
Óige na Gaeltachta Senior Youth Club.
The Youth Club meets Monday evenings in the hall.
Welfare officer
A SOCIAL welfare officer will be in attendance every Wednesday between 12 noon and 1 p.m. at the Medical Centre, Tourmakeady.
Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar!
TAKE the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m. Please support this worthwhile service.
St Patrick’s Day:
Thank you to our helpers and everyone that participated on the day. It was a wonderful achievement to see everyone out and supporting this important day. Thank you to Father for his support and the Garda for his presence. Thank you to all the schools, teachers and floats that took part in the parade. Thank you to the children that provided the entertainment. Thank you to our sponsors for their generous support and also to all the marshals, FAS and RSS schemes. Finally thanks to the background support making refreshments and to those that brought cakes buns etc. Look forward to seeing you all next year.
Pub quiz
A BIG crowd is expected at Marie Luke’s Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady, on Saturday night next, April 2, for a pub quiz hosted by Catherine Burke, daughter of John and Judy Burke, Coppaduff, Tourmakeady.
The proceeds will go towards supporting the Work of Foundations, Napal.

Aisling wins medal
CONGRATULATIONS to Aisling McGing, daughter of Michael and Mary McGing, Glenmask, Tourmakeady, who won a medal at the Western Care Mayo tournament in the Castlebar Bowling Alley.
Died in Lancashire
THE death has taken place in Darwin, Lancashire, of Padraig Morrin, formerly of Ballybannon, Tourmakeady. He was brother of the late Máirtin Morrin, Ballybannon.
The late Padraig is survived by his sister, Nora Vahey, London, and brother Sean, Lancashire. He was brother-in-law of Irene Morrin, Ballybannon.
Mass will be celebrated in Tourmakeady for the repose of his soul.
Western Alzheimer tea day
THE annual tea day in aid of the Western Alzheimer Foundation will be held in the home of Eileen and Sean Barker, at Néad on Dreelín, Gortfree, from 4 p.m. onwards. The usual support is requested and donations wil be very welcome.
Bonus number winners
THE latest winners of the Partry residence bonus number draw are James Reynolds, Partry and John Ruane, Ballinrobe. Both win €100 each for having number 10 in Saturday nights draw. The next draw is on April 2, at 8 p.m.
The late Jimmy Murray
THE death took place in Castlebar of Jimmy Murray, Shongort, Srah, Tourmakeady.
The late Jimmy, who was in his mid-90s, passed away after a long illness.
His remains were removed from St. Mary’s Funeral Home, Tourmakeady, to the local church. Buriel took place on Sunday, March 20, following Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P., Tourmakeady. The readers were Michael Heneghan and Phil Maguire who were friends of the late Jimmy. The musicial tunes were provided by Shauna O’Malley.
Jimmy is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and hospital staff and management, Castlebar.
Celebrated 18th birthday
CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Cathy Heneghan, daughter of Mary and Michael Heneghan, Kilfoul, Partry, who celebrated her 18th birthday. To mark the occasion, Cathy who is a pupil in Colaiste Mhuire Tuar Mhic Eadaigh, was joined by family and friends for a party in the Village Inn, Partry.
Céile mór
A REMINDER to all set and céile dancers of a céile mór in Partry Community Centre on Saturday next, April 2. The music will be provided by Anally céile band and there will be plenty of sideshows including refreshments and raffles.
Well done Sean
CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Sean Molloy, Cappaduff, Tourmakeady, who climbed Croagh Patrick 10 times during the Seven Day Challenge for Autism.
Thanks is extended to all those who supported the wonderful night in the Lough Mask Inn on the Saturday which was held to raise funds for Autism.
Mary Walsh-Ronan, Taugheen and formally of Churchfield, Tourmakeady did the climb nine times in the seven days.
GAA membership fees
THE Tourmakeady GAA Club membership fees for the year are €100 for adults, adult supporters (social member) €60, children €40, family €120, family membership plus lotto silver circle €200.

Wedding bells
ST. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, was the setting on St. Patrick’s Day for the wedding of Miss Martina Collins, daughter of Mary and the late Seamus Colins, Shanvallycahil, Tourmakeady, and Kevin Dolan, son of Nuala and Paddy Dolan, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady.
The bride was handed over by her brother Jimmy Collins, and the ceremony was performed by Fr. John Kenny P.P. Tourmakeady. The maid of honour was Jennifer Heneghan and the bridesmaids were Cathy Colins, Molly McGing and Linda Joyce. The best man was Adrian Dolan and groomsmen were Joe Dolan, Brian Dolan and Danny Lydon. Finn Collins was the pageboy and the music was provided by Órla ni Cheallaigh agus Michael O’Súilleabháin.
The reception was held in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris.
Both Kevin (who was captain of the Tourmakeady team which won the Mayo Intermediate championship title last year) and Martina are wished a long and happy life together.
Tea Day in Partry
ON Friday next the annual Tea Day for Western Alzheimer’s will be held in the home of Maura and Dick Gibbons, Gallagh, Tourmakeady. It is open to everyone from 5 p.m. onwards and your support wil be most welcome.
Minors win
THE Tourmakeady minor footballers got their season off to a flying start following their 6-10 to 1-6 win over Kilmovee Shamrocks on Sunday.
Died in Meath
THE death took place in Meath of Mrs. Mary Duffy who was formally Mary Lally of Derryveeney, Tourmakeady. Buriel took place in Meath last week.
The late Mary is survived by her family and was aunt of Martin and Patsy Lally, Tourmakeady, and sister of Kate Callen, Shanvallyard, who passed away on Saturday last. Her buriel will take place in Tourmakeady following 11 a.m. Mass today (Tuesday).
Paddy’s open to the public
PADDY’S Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady, will open to the public for Sunday lunch and dinner from next Sunday (Mother’s Day) onwards.

THE Tourmakeady GAA lotto draw for €8,000 will take place in Paddy’s Bar on Saturday night, April 2.

Pastrol Council meeting
A MEETING of the Partry and Tourmakeady Parish Pastrol Council will be held tonight (Tuesday) at 8 p.m. The main items on the agenda are the Easter Sunday Dawn Mass and the shore of Lough mask, Tourmakeady.
Readers and Ministers
AT the Saturday night Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, Eddie Gibbons will do the readings and the Eucharistic Ministers will be Brid Heneghan and Julie Lally.
At the 11.30 Mass on Sunday Martin O’Neill and Sadie Molly will be the Eucharistic Ministers. Church care week, the Drimcoggy ladies. Mass servers: Saturday team C and Sunday, team D.
