The annual Christmas Lunch will take place in Paddy’s on Thursday 12th December at 3.00pm. All welcome.
Santa’s visit to Tourmakeady
Santa will be visiting Halla Tourmakeady on Sunday 15th December. Santa has confirmed his visit. You will meet Santa and there will be many activities such as testing your football skills, Wii, Storytime, colouring corner, Hair Braiding, Nail Painting etc. If anyone would like to donate home baking, jams, spot prizes, bottles or any unwanted gifts, the organisers would be very grateful. They may be left at the hall. Volunteers on the day would be very much appreciated
Holly Wreath / Door Garland Workshop Create your own Holly Wreath / Door Swag from scratch at this workshop. Each person will take home their own individually decorated wreaths ready to hang on their Hall Door. The cost for this workshop is €20 per person and must be paid for in advance to secure your place. There is a minimum of 15 people required to run the Workshop which will take place on Thursday December 5th 2013 in Halla Tourmakeady at 8.00pm. Please bring scissors and secateurs. Dancing classes
A new series of dancing classes will start at Partry Community Centre, on Friday, November 22, at 8.30 p.m., with all dances catered for. It is open to everyone in the parish.
Tourmakeady demoted
On Sunday, November 10, Davitts senior footballers came to the Gaeltach for one league point for survival but they got both points and in turn demoted Tourmakeady to division 1B, on a score of Davitts 1-9 to Tourmakeady 0-10. The half-time score looked good for the hosts Tourmakeady 0-8 to Davitts 0-1. However, a gift goal midway through was the turning stage of this disappointing month.
Bingo game
Bingo continues every Monday, at 8.45 p.m. in Partry Community Centre, with two jackpots every week. There is a big special bingo on November 25.
Annual general meeting
The annual general meeting of Colaiste Mhuire company will take place on Thursday, November 21, at 7.30 p.m. in The Colaiste. All members are asked to be in attendance.
GAA lotto results
There was no outright winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto draw on November 9, at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant.
The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 13 and 17. Consolation winners were Ron Bourke, Portroyal, Tom and Mary Cushlough, Eliis and Rosa Heneghan, Churchfield, Donna Rogan and Caroline McDonald. The next jackpot draw of €6,500 will take place next Saturday. Tickets are on sale throughout the parish.
Partry residents bonus number game winners
The latest winners of the Partry residents bonus number game were Maura Gibbons, Gallagh and Maureen Heneghn, Partry. They each receive €100 for choosing number 28. The next draw is on Saturday, at 8 p.m.
50-50 draw winner
Winner of The Colaiste Mhuire 50-50 draw on Friday, November 8, was Sinead Gielty, with €267.

Death
Sympathy to Kathleen and Willie Feeley, Mayfield, Claremorris, on the sudden death of their son Alan Feeley, aged 28 years, following a brain Haemorrhage in Limerick, on Monday, November 11.
Alan’s mother Kathleen was formerly Kathleen Molloy, Tourmakeady, daughter of Sadie and the late Sean Molloy R.I.P. Willie won a junior medal with Tourmakeady GAA team in 1979 and assisted Tourmakeady to their intermediate success in the early 80s.
Alan, who played for Claremorris the previous day was brother of Hugh, Donal and Liam and nephew to Ina Gibbons, Treenlair, Tourmakeady, Sean Molloy, Cappaduff, Deirdre Gallagher, Tom Molloy, Noel Molloy and Michael Molloy, all Chicago.
Sympathy to the Feeley and Molloy families. May Alan’s gentle soul rest with the Lord.
Pool final
Well done to Martin McDonald, on winning the Tourmakeady pool final at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant. It was a great competition hosted by Maire Lukes. Martin defeated Pat Heneghan in a nail biting final.

Colaiste Muire, Tourmakeady, have their 50/50 weekly draw every Friday and the winner on 1st November was Mary Walsh, Taughan, Claremorris. Tickets are now on sale in Corrigan’s Store, Ballintubber. The winner each week collects half of the takings.

Draw
Colaiste Muire, Tourmakeady, have their 50/50 weekly draw every Friday and the winner on 1st November was Mary Walsh, Taughan, Claremorris. Tickets are now on sale in Corrigan’s Store, Ballintubber. The winner each week collects half of the takings.
Dancing
A new series of dancing classes will start at Partry Community Centre on Friday, November 22, with all dances catered for by a special teacher. It is open to everyone in the parish and all are welcome on the floor at 8.30.

Tourmakeady connections
The 2013 county football champions Castlebar Mitchels have a few Tourmakeady connections. Twin brothers numbers 7 and 13, are sons of Mary Ann Dolan, formerly Upper Churchfield. The boys Patrick and James Durcan put on a great show.
A second set of brothers number 10 Neil Lydon and substitute Jamie Lydon are sons of Sean Lydon, Cappaduff, Tourmakeady. The first sub Rory Byrne is son of Barbara Gibbons, Tawnagh, Tourmakeady, and grandson of Kathleen and Paddy Gibbons.
Draw winner
Well done to Brian Gibbons, Churchfield Upper, Tourmakeady, winner of the 50-50 draw on Friday, October 26, at Colaisti Mhuire, Tourmakeady. This young boy collected over €250 for his winnings. There is a draw every Friday at The Colaiste. All proceeds go towards great facilities in Tourmakeady.
Death
The tragic death has taken place following an accident in New York of Kevin Taylor, son of Mike and Helen Taylor, and grandson of the late Matt and Ellen Duffy, Churchfield, Tourmakeady.
In his teenage years, Kevin had plans to come to Ireland and Tourmakeady when he completed college. He is also survived by his brother Matthew Taylor, in New York. Kevin was nephew of Martin and Paul Duffy, Churchfield, Tourmakeady.
He was laid to rest in New York, and a number of cousins attended from the Tourmakeady area. May his soul rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to Helen, Mike, Matthew and all the Taylor and Duffy families in Mayo and New York.
Lotto results
The Tourmakeady GAA lotto was not won on October 27, at The Lough Mask Inn. The numbers chosen were 3, 10, 26 and 27. The consolation winners were Peadar O’Cathain, Pairc A Doire, Pat McGovern, Robeen, Joe Heneghan, Treen, Matt Dever, Ballybannon and David Prendergast, Gortmore.
The jackpot will be €6,300 for the draw on Saturday next. Tickets are €2 or three for €5 and are on sale throughout the parish.
Tourmakeady senior team got a crucial point on Saturday, in Clogher. Both teams were very much under strength and the final score was Ballintubber 1-11 to Tourmakeady 0-14.
Waterfall Magazine
The 27th season of the annual Tourmakeady Waterfall Magazine has arrived and the usual request goes out for much wanted material including old and new photographs, articles, poems, history and advertisements for full and half pages.
Thanks to all the hard working voluntary committee. All material should be left in to The Village Inn, or Corrigans, Ballintubber or [email protected]. Everything must be in by Sunday, November 10.
Wedding bells
On Saturday, October 26, the marriage took place between Ms. Aoife McDonagh, daughter of Mary and the late Jimmy McDonagh, Headford and Mr. Ronan Bourke, son of Kathleen and Sean Bourke, Partry, Claremorris.
The lovely ceremony was performed by Fr. Ray Flaherty, assisted by Canon Desmond Grogan.
Best man on the day was Sean Og Bourke. Groomsman was Brendan Garry. Bridesmaids were Karina McDonagh and Lorraine Flynn. Flower girl was Karina Bourke and page boy was Conor Bourke.
Readers were Frances McDonagh and Michelle Duddy, with reflection given by Ellen Browne. Hymns were sung by Michelle Conroy, Brendan Duignan and Honor Tuohy.
The reception was held at The Knockranny Hotel, Westport. Aoife and Ronan are wished many happy years together.
New baby boy
Congratulations to Tanya and Colm O’Chonghaile on the birth of their son Ronan at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar.
Sincere sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to Sheila and William Barker, Gortfree, Tourmakeady, on the death of Sheila’s mother Mrs. Frances O’Connor, New Street, Ballinrobe. Mrs. O’Connor is also mother of Martin O’Connor, husband of Noreen O’Neill, formerly Derryveeney, Tourmakeady.
Frances was laid to rest following 11.30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, November 3, in Ballinrobe. May her soul rest in peace.
