Update on the Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Recreational Park
Coiste Pobail Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Teo (the company set up when the Fair Green was transferred to the community) has applied to the 2012 Sports Capital Programme for funding of the Páirc Spraoi project and we should be notified by this October on whether our application has been successful. Last year our application was being dealt with by the MFG who were appointed to deliver the Leader programme in the Gaeltacht.
Unfortunately MFG went into liquidation and no projects in the Gaeltacht area have been processed since then. Now the South West Mayo Development Company has been appointed to deliver the Leader programme for the Tourmakeady area.
The Tourmakeady 10K Mini-Marathon has raised over €2000.00 for the Páirc Spraoi project, thanks to the Mini-Marathon committee and the great community support. We are still being congratulated on the organisation of the Mini Marathon and we are indebted to all the volunteers and participants who took part and to everyone who donated refreshments on the day.
We will continue in our efforts to fundraise for the Páirc Spraoi and we would like to thank the community of Tourmakeady for their support with this initiative. It is highlighted in the Tourmakeady Community Futures Action Plan as a priority and is a development for all the community. Again thank you for your continued support.
