Santa’s visit to Tourmakeady - Santa will be visiting Halla Tourmakeady on Sunday 6th December from 2.00pm to 4.00pm  You will meet Santa and there will be many activities such as testing your football skills, Wii, Story time, colouring corner, etc.  If anyone would like to donate home baking, jams, spot prizes, bottles or any unwanted gifts, the organisers would be very grateful. They may be left at the hall. Volunteers on the day would be very much appreciated

Partry bonus number  Well done to Pete Foren and Gabriel Burke on winning the Partry residents' bonus number weekly draw on November 14. Both receive €100 each for having number 4.
 
St. Mary’s christmas tree St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, will be lit up again by a Christmas tree. The cards are being sold after Masses from Saturday evening last. The names of the people will be remembered in a Tridium of Masses over the Christmas period.
There are four different types of cards and each card will be €5. The funds raised will go towards Tourmakeady Church sacristy refurbishment. Thank you all in advance for your support.
 
Partry Parent and Toddler Group will meet in the community centre on Saturday, November 28, from 10 to 11.30 a.m. Please park at the front of the hall or at the back of the hall. All are welcome for a cup of tea and a chat.  For further information, please contact Charlotte on (086) 8210810.
 
50/50 weekly draw The latest winner of the Coláiste Muire, Tourmakeady, 50/50 weekly draw was Michael Conaboy, Shanvallycahill. Tickets are on sale throughout the parish at €2 each or three for €5. The proceeds are split 50/50 between the Coláiste and the winner.
 
GAA local lotto There was no outright winner of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto on Saturday, November 14. The numbers chosen were 9, 11, 13 and 20 and consolation winners were Nuala O’Se, Goirtinmore, Ricky Staunton, Tourmakeady, Jerome Rogan, Cappencreha, Seamus Fadden, Derrassa, and May Heneghan, Tourmakeady.  A possible €14,800 may be in the jackpot on Saturday next, November 28, in Máire Luke's, Tourmakeady. Tickets are on sale throughout the parish.
 
Waterfall Magazine  The 28th edition of the Tourmakeady annual magazine, The Waterfall, has gone to print and will be out as usual for Christmas. It is a great achievement for a voluntary group, three of whom founded the magazine - Tomas Heneghan, Noreen Maloney and Michael John Casey - are still at the wheels.  Sincere thanks to the huge response from Partry and Tourmakeady for so much material. 
 
Cead mile failte to Sergeant Gerry Flannery who will take up duty in Partry today (Tuesday, November 24). Sgt. Gerry will be covering the Tourmakeady area who are also minus a garda and barracks for a number of years.
 
Tourmakeady Hall bonus number draw on November 14 winners were Nancy Heneghan, Srah, and Mick and Bernie Dunne  The prize is €100 to both families for having number 4.

Week ending 22nd November 2015

Strictly Come Dancing Tourmakeady community have a keen interest in the top rating Strictly Come Dancing, which is aired on Saturdays at 6.15 p.m., with the results on Sundays at 7.15 p.m.   This year one of the dancing duos has strong Tourmakeady links. Jay McGuinness is grandson of Maureen Groarke, formerly Cappaduff, Tourmakeady, and Tommie Collins (RIP), late of Shanvallycahill, Tourmakeady.  Jay has many, many cousins throughout Tourmakeady in Partry. Tourmakeady folk living in England or Northern Ireland can and should vote for Jay and his dancing partner. We wish them well.
 
Pastoral meeting  The pastoral meeting of Ballyovey parish was held on Tuesday, November 3. The meeting discussed the ministries of baptism and funeral ceremonies and the assisting of Fr. Kenny as a means of familiarising parishioners with this progression in the parish.
There will be a new addition to the church care team to be drawn from students in Coláiste Mhuire.  Adoration will be reintroduced in St. Mary’s Tuar Mhic Éadaigh in 2016. Fr. Kenny has introduced a special newsletter for the children of the parish distributed to all schools on a weekly basis.   The meeting also discussed the painting of Partry Church and refurbishment of the sacristy of Tuar Mhic Éadaigh which will commence early 2016.
 
Bonus Numbers The winner of the Tourmakeady Hall bonus number draw on November 7 was Laurence Lally number 17.
 
50/50 Weekly Draw  The latest winners of the 50/50 weekly draw at Colaisti Muire, Tourmakeady, were Martin Heneghan, Gortnacullin, on October 30 and Sean Molly (Jnr), Cappaduff, on November 6. Tickets, at €2 or three for €5, are on sale throughout the parish. Half of the takings go to Colaisti Muire and the other 50% to the winner.
 
Clothes Recycling Event  Tourmakeady National School are having a clothes recycling event on Saturday, November 21, at the school. Items can be taken in up until that date at the school.  The following items will be accepted - shoes, clothes, bags, belts, soft toys and household textiles (bed linen, curtains and towels), as well as mobile phones and laptops - must be intact with power leads.  It is a great chance to do a house clean for Christmas while also supporting Tourmakeady National School.
 
Partry Bonus Number Well done to Kathleen Mulrooney, Partry, and Padraig Conroy, Tourmakeady, winners of the Partry residents' weekly bonus number on Saturday, November 7. Both winners receive €100 each for having number 17.
 
Sympathy   We extend our sympathy to Tom Whelan, Barnahowna, Killitane, on the death in Australia of his brother, Stephen Whelan. Burial took place in Australia. Stephen was uncle to Tom Whelan, Treenlair ,and Padraig Whelan, Barnahowna. May he rest in peace.
 
Reunion  The proceeds of the recent reunion - a total of €370 - was lodged to the St. Mary’s Church Sacristy Fund in Tourmakeady P.O. Another donation or gift can be lodged and appreciated to the same account.
 
Marie Luke’s On Friday night next, November 21, there will be a great buzz at Máire Luke's Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady, when they welcome back The Bumble Bee with a great show for young and old.
The Sunday lunch at Máire Luke's is taking a break until further notice. Reunions, 21st or family gatherings are catered for at (094) 9544080.
 
Christmas Cards Tourmakeady Church Pastoral Council will be selling the Christmas cards after both Masses every weekend as from next weekend November 21 and22. As in 2014, cards will be €5 each, with all money going to the completion of St. Mary’s Church at Tourmakeady.  For every card purchased a light will shine on the outdoor Christmas tree on the grounds of St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, plus a series of Masses will be celebrated by Fr. John Kenny throughout the Christmas, for all your intentions.

GAA Lotto  stands at a possible €14,700 for the draw in the Village Inn on Saturday, November 21.   Last week's numbers were 7, 10, 17 and 19 and consolation winners were Vincent Horan, Ballygarry, Liam Philbin, Gortmore, Evelyn Lang, Carheen, and Michael McDermott, Derradda. All money spent goes to the Tourmakeady GAA €300,000 project.   Sincere thanks for all your support.

Come along and improve your cúpla focal as Gaeilge and enjoy an evening of fun and craic. Light Refreshments available. SWMDC will provide the funding.  Anyone interested in these classes must register with SWMDC.
