Gradam Gnó Mhaigh Eo 2013. Ghlac 80 gnó páirt i Comórtas Gradam Gnó Mhaigh Eo 2013. Tháinig na hainmniúchán ó na gnólachtaí iad féin agus óna gcuid custaiméirí. As an 80 gnó sin, tá dhá gnó ó Thuar Mhic Éadaigh ar an gearrliosta. Comhghairdeas le Fíor Uisce Teo & Teach Mháire Luke.

Over 80 Mayo businesses entered the Gradam Gnó le Gaeilge 2013 ( Business with Irish Awards). Nominations were received from both the businesses themselves and from their customers. Congratulations to Fíor Uisce Teo. and Teach Mháire Luke for making the shortlist. The Gradam Gnó le Gaeilge awards will be announced and presented to the winners on Saturday 25th May in Breaffy House, Castlebar.

REGISTRATION for underage girls from 8 to 10 years takes place each evening this week at Pairc Naoimh Muire, Tourmakeady.

New baby
Congratulations to Niamh and David Hughes, Carnacon, and Churchfield, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby daughter, Lily, at Mayo General Hospital. She is a welcome sister for Donnacha, and a granddaughter for Patricia and Tommy Heneghan, Churchfield, and Mary and Brendan Hughes, Carnacon, and a great granddaughter for Maureen Heneghan, Tawnagh, Srah.
GAA lotto
There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto held on May 11. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 9 and 15. Consolation winners were Pat Heneghan, Tawnagh, Bridie Lally, Tourmakeady, Martin Staunton, Drimcoggy, May Heneghan, Tourmakeady, and Stephen and Anthony O’Neill, Derryveeney.
The next draw is on Saturday night, with a jackpot of €5,700. The €1,800 give-away is on June 1 at Paddy’s Restaurant.
Death
The death took place on Sunday, May 12, in his eighty-sixth year, of Mr. Michael Dolan, Churchfield, Tourmakeady, in the company of his family, following an illness.
Known locally as Mickey, he was predeceased by his wife Mary (née Lydon). Mickey was a hard-working man, and a kind and helping neighbour. He had great time and adored his family, who in turn cared for him in his own home until his death.
Mickey, along with his wife, loved to travel to different countries but he always liked to come home.
His remains were removed from his residence to St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, and burial took place in Churchfield Cemetery following Mass celebrated by Fr. Desmond Grogan, Partry. Readings were given by Treasa, Ann and Valeria. The communion reflection was presented by Padraig Dolan, his son. Music was by Tommy Heneghan and Tom McGovern.
Mickey is also survived by his daughter Christine and other sons Seamus and Michael, Brendan and Tommie, brother Willie, sisters Kate and Nora, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbours.
May his soul rest in peace.
First Communion
St. Mary’s Church, Partry, was the setting for the 2013 First Communion ceremony celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P.
Four pupils from Partry National School received for the first time. They were Isobelle Feerick, Caoimhe Barry, Arron Jennings and Dara Cronin.
Congratulations also to their teachers Mary Clarke, Terasa Horan and Tom Byrne.
Thanks
The Alzheimer tea day committee wish to thank the people of Tourmakeady who supported the Barker family, Trianlar, by way of cooking, catering and attending the event. A total of €660 was raised.
Bonus number
The winner of the Partry bonus number on May 18 was Michael Walsh, Kilkerran. He received €100 for having number 32.
Lotto giveaway
Tourmakeady GAA Club will have a €1,800 giveaway on June 1 at Paddy’s Restaurant if the local lotto is not won. Tickets are €2 each or you can get three for €5.
Water arrears
An urgent public meeting in connection with the group water scheme has been arranged for Thursday next, May 23, at 8.30 p.m. in Tourmakeady Hall.
Mayo County Council has notified the scheme committee that they intend to disconnect the water supply to the area due to non payment of outstanding arrears.
Members are asked to pay outstanding money for 2012 on the night. If fees are not paid at this time the water supply will be turned off immediately.

Congrats to Larry Conlon, son of Barbara and Gerry, and Oisin Whelan, son of Eileen and Tom, who played in the Cumann na mBunscoil at half-time in the Mayo versus Galway game on Sunday. There are pupils of Tourmakeady National School and are also prominent players in the Tourmakeady underage teams.

The death has taken place in London of Mrs. Sheila Keaney, wife of the late Martin Keaney, formerly of Ballygarry, Partry. She will be laid to rest in Ballyvoey Cemetery, Partry, at the weekend. Sheila was sister-in-law of Bridie Gardiner, Ballina. May she rest in peace.

Engagement Congratulations to Mr. Donal Mahoney, son of Helen and Donal Mahoney, Partry, Claremorris, on his engagement to Ms. Gemma Moran, Ballinrobe, at the weekend. Best wishes to both of them.
Bereavement Sympathy is extended to James and Mary Ann Heneghan, Shangort, Srah, on the death in Kerry of James’ sister, Bridie, following an illness. Her family and also brothers Tommy and James and sisters Maureen and Nancy survive Bridie. May her soul rest in peace.

Metal collection As part of their fundraising events, Colaiste Muire’s parents’ council is organising a metal collection on Saturday, June 29.

Mayo Litter Action League - Tourmakeady is now part of the 2013 Mayo Litter Action League. It is a competition open to Community Groups in all towns and villages in County Mayo. It is run on a league basis i.e. each of the participating towns and villages compete against all other towns and villages in its group on successive months. One of the measures in the County’s Litter Management Plan is Community and Voluntary Group co-operation. Historic day for Partry AFC
SUNDAY, April 23, 2013, will go down in the history books of Partry Athletic Footballl Club for on that day they captured their first ever major trophy when winning the Connaught Shield final when they defeated Urlaur United 2-0 at Milebush Park, Castlebar. A great goal by Tom Byrne in the 32nd minute left the half-time score 1-0. In the 85th minute, Tourmakeady’s Tomas Seoighe made it 2-0 to capture the shield. Team captain Ciaran Hennelly accepted the trophy and his cousin, Tom Byrne, was named man of the match. Congratulations to manager John Moran and the entire club. Good luck in the Mayo League this season.
Death
We regret to announce the death at Swinford District Hospital, surrounded by her family, of Mrs. Kate Heneghan, Ballinean, Partry, formerly Kate Hayes of Dererina, Ballintubber, in her 90th year.
Predeceased by her son Johnny in 1980 and husband John in 1996, Kate enjoyed life ‘til the end. She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her interests and hobbies included her garden and it was always in bloom to suit the seasons. She loved to dress well, and mix and match was her motto. She had a keen interest in music and loved to dance.
She had a special place in her heart for the group Bumble Bee. Her favourite song was ‘Katie Daly’, which she sang regularly up to the time of her death. It was sung at her funeral Mass.
Large crowds assembled on both days for her removal from Partry Community Centre to St. Mary’s Church, Partry, and for the funeral Mass, which took place on Tuesday, April 23, and was concelebrated by Fr. Desmond Grogan, Partry, Fr. Martin Costello, Ballinrobe, Fr. Martin O’Connor, Irishtown, and Fr. Michael Farragher, C.C., Castlebar.
Music was provided by Mary Gill, readings were by her grandchildren Mary Gill and Steven Heneghan and her nephew Michael John Casey, and bidding prayers were presented by Pat McGee, Nicola Riley, Helen Walsh, Gabriel Feerick and Catherine Walsh. The reflection was given by Michael Walsh, son-in-law.
Kate is survived by her sons Bernard and Michael (both Partry), Pat, London, daughters Bridie Walsh, Partry, Mary Feerick, London, Kathleen McGee, Irishtown, Ann Riley, London, daughter-in-law Mary Heneghan, Partry, sons-in-law Michael Walsh, Partry, Joe McGee, Irishtown, and Frank Riley, London, nephew Michael John Casey, Tourmakeady, also, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, neighbour and carers.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Well done to the recent winners in the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto. The numbers drawn on April 20 were 6, 17, 20 and 31, and there was no winner of the jackpot. Consolation winners were John Joe Joyce, Trianlair, John Hession Snr., Partry, the Farragher sisters, Partry, Ruth Hanley and Pat Staunton.
The next draw takes place on Saturday with a jackpot of €5,400.
Sympathy
We extend our sympathy to Michael Heneghan, Partry, on the death of his sister Nan and brother Marcus. A memorial Mass took place at St. Mary’s Church, Partry, on Monday, April 22, with burial in Ballyvoey Cemetery.
Nan and Marcus are also survived by their sister Bernie, England.
New baby
Congratulations to Ciaran and Christine Walsh, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their son Conor. He is a brother for Paddy and grandson for Margaret Walsh, Derryveeney, and also a grandson for Kathleen and Dan Prendergast, Limerick.
Engraved stone
Partry Residents’ Association are erecting an engraved stone in Tooreen, Partry, on the site where Monsignor James Horan was born. Mass in the church will be at 10 a.m. on June 9, followed by the blessing of his birth place. Refreshments will be served afterwards. It is hoped there will be a big turnout to honour this great man.

Baby boy
Congratulations go to John and Fiona Heneghan, Churchfield, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby son, Padraig. He is a welcome brother for JB and Matthew and grandson to Patricia and Tommy Heneghan, Churchfield, and Padraig and Sally Casey, Cornamona. He is also a great-grandson for Maureen Heneghan, Tawangh, Srah.
Angling
Tourmakeady anglers held their first competition of the season on Saturday, April 20. The Churchfield Cup was the first event of the season. Despite the windy conditions, there was a good turnout and some fine trout were caught and returned in this catch-and-release competition.
The winners were: first, Mikey Shovelin, second, Liam Conroy, joint third, John Burke and Mikey Shovelin.
The next competition will be for the deceased members’ cup on May 12 and after that the European cup on May 18 and 19.
Girls’ football
Tourmakeady ladies football club are now recruiting Under 8 and 10 girls. All girls aged between six and eight are welcome. Registration is €20 each. For more details and registration forms, contact Dee Mulroe on (087) 7665540 or Ciara O’Toole on (087) 7727291.
Death
The death has taken place in her 90th year of Mrs. Bridie Sheridan, Kilkeeran, Partry, formerly Bridie Walsh, Westport, at Hollymount Nursing Home.
Bridie was a hard-working woman who served the public as she was proprietress of the original Lough Inn, Partry. She loved to meet and greet people and was a woman of great faith. She enjoyed the game of bingo in the local centre.
On Sunday, April 28, her remains were removed to St. Mary’s Church, Partry, and she was laid to rest following 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P., assisted by Fr. Desmond Grogan, Partry, and Fr. Michael Farragher, a neighbour.
Readings were given by Ger Cannon, son of Bridie and Siobhán, granddaughter. Prayers of the faithful were given by Maeve (daughter), Stepney (niece) and Valerie (grandniece).
Bridie is survived by her daughter Maeve, sons Ger and Dermot, granddaughters Siobhán and Valerie, cousins, neighbours and extended family.
May her soul rest in peace.

Engraved stone
Partry Residents’ Association are erecting an engraved stone in Tooreen, Partry, on the site where Monsignor James Horan was born. Mass in the church will be at 10 a.m. on June 9, followed by the blessing of his birth place. Refreshments will be served afterwards. It is hoped there will be a big turnout to honour this great man.

Baby boy
Congratulations go to John and Fiona Heneghan, Churchfield, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby son, Padraig. He is a welcome brother for JB and Matthew and grandson to Patricia and Tommy Heneghan, Churchfield, and Padraig and Sally Casey, Cornamona. He is also a great-grandson for Maureen Heneghan, Tawangh, Srah.
Angling
Tourmakeady anglers held their first competition of the season on Saturday, April 20. The Churchfield Cup was the first event of the season. Despite the windy conditions, there was a good turnout and some fine trout were caught and returned in this catch-and-release competition.
The winners were: first, Mikey Shovelin, second, Liam Conroy, joint third, John Burke and Mikey Shovelin.
The next competition will be for the deceased members’ cup on May 12 and after that the European cup on May 18 and 19.
Girls’ football
Tourmakeady ladies football club are now recruiting Under 8 and 10 girls. All girls aged between six and eight are welcome. Registration is €20 each. For more details and registration forms, contact Dee Mulroe on (087) 7665540 or Ciara O’Toole on (087) 7727291.
Death
The death has taken place in her 90th year of Mrs. Bridie Sheridan, Kilkeeran, Partry, formerly Bridie Walsh, Westport, at Hollymount Nursing Home.
Bridie was a hard-working woman who served the public as she was proprietress of the original Lough Inn, Partry. She loved to meet and greet people and was a woman of great faith. She enjoyed the game of bingo in the local centre.
On Sunday, April 28, her remains were removed to St. Mary’s Church, Partry, and she was laid to rest following 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P., assisted by Fr. Desmond Grogan, Partry, and Fr. Michael Farragher, a neighbour.
Readings were given by Ger Cannon, son of Bridie and Siobhán, granddaughter. Prayers of the faithful were given by Maeve (daughter), Stepney (niece) and Valerie (grandniece).
Bridie is survived by her daughter Maeve, sons Ger and Dermot, granddaughters Siobhán and Valerie, cousins, neighbours and extended family.
May her soul rest in peace.

The latest winners of Partry residence bonus number game were Margaret and Sean Gibbons, Ballinern, and Kathleen and Vincent Horan, Ballygarry. They had number 35.
Sympathy
We extend our sympathy to James and Mary Ann Heneghan, Shargort, Srah, Tourmakeady, on the death in Kerry of Bridie Doddley, sister of James. Bridie was also sister of Maureen, Nancy and Tommy Heneghan. Burial took place in Kerry.
May her soul rest in peace.

Congratulations are extended to Thomas and Shailaigh Gibbons, Chicago, and Treenlair, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth Ann, in Chicago. She is a little granddaughter for Sally and Michael Gibbons, Tourmakeady, and also, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heneghan, formerly of Derrassa, Srah, and Chicago.

Mayo Litter Action League - Tourmakeady is now part of the 2013 Mayo Litter Action League. It is a competition open to Community Groups in all towns and villages in County Mayo. It is run on a league basis i.e. each of the participating towns and villages compete against all other towns and villages in its group on successive months. One of the measures in the County’s Litter Management Plan is Community and Voluntary Group co-operation.
