Cycling Club
Starts again Sunday 3rd February in Tourmakeady National School from 1.00pm to 2pm . Your bikes should be in good working order and bike helmets are compulsory. Primary Course in Food Safety
We hope to run a Primary Course in Food Safety on Monday 18th Feb from 10-3pm & Mon 25th February from 10-4pm in Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh if there is sufficient demand. 15 people are needed to run the course and the cost is €140.00. The course consists of a minimum of 8 hours tuition followed by an assessment of 1 hour duration. On completion of the course successful participants are awarded a certificate from the Environment Health Officers Association. There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto draw held in the Village Inn, Partry, on January 12. The numbers drawn were 8, 16, 18 and 28.
The consolation winners were Seamus Hughes, Derryveeney, Martin Collins, Chicago, John Gibbons, Tawnagh, and Kevin and Pat Egan, Partry.

Deaths
The death has taken place in Scotland of Robert Casey, better known as Bob, in his 93rd year.
He was a regular visitor to his relations and friends in Tourmakeady and was a cousin of the late Mary Staunton (née Casey), Shanvallyard, Tourmakeady.
He is survived by his daughter Ann and son-in-law Graham and cousins and friends in Tourmakeady.
May he rest in peace.
The death took place recently of Mrs. Bridie Mayock, Boofeenaun, Ballina. She was sister of Jack Joyce, and sister-in-law of Dorothy Joyce, Derrypark, Tourmakeady. Sympathy is tendered to Mayock and Joyce families.

Following the cancellation of the Tóchar walk at Christmas, the Diocesan Youth Council (www.dyctuam.ie) is inviting young people from across the diocese to join them for the re-scheduled first stage of their annual Tóchar walk.
Participants will gather at Ballintubber Abbey, on Saturday, January 26, at 10.45 a.m. and walk the first stage to Aughagower. Wet gear and hiking boots are essential as well as a packed lunch.

GAA Club annual general meeting
TOURMAKEADY GAA Club is holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday, January 16, at 8.30 p.m., in the clubhouse. GAA Club annual general meeting
TOURMAKEADY GAA Club is holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday, January 16, at 8.30 p.m., in the clubhouse. All parents of children in the area and people interested in keeping the GAA in Tourmakeady are asked to attend. Also all members and underage managers of 2012 are invited to come along.
Month’s mind Mass
The Morahan family, Derrendafderg, Srah, appreciate all the support they received on the recent death of Mike Morahan, RIP. They thank everyone for the practical support and goodwill.

Tóchar walk
Following the cancellation of the Tóchar walk at Christmas, the Diocesan Youth Council (www.dyctuam.ie) is inviting young people from across the diocese to join them for the rescheduled first stage of their annual Tóchar Walk.
Participants will gather at Ballintubber Abbey on Saturday, January 26, at 10.45 a.m. and walk the first stage to Aughagower. Wet gear and hiking boots are essential, as well as a packed lunch.

The death has taken place in Cleveland, Ohio, of Kathleen Carvert, Formerly Kathleen Eder, daughter of Maggie (Peggy) Heneghan, Tawnagh, Tourmakeady. Kathleen was niece of Julia Burke, Church Road and the late Martin Heneghan, (Owen), Tawnagh. May she rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy

Death
THE death took place of Willie Collins, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady, at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, on December 26.
Willie, who was in his late sixties, was also known as Bill, and was a native of Glenamaddy, Co. Galway. He was a quiet, hard working neighbour, who was always offering the helping hand. He had a keen interest in music - mainly Big Tom and his ‘Four Country Roads to Glenamaddy’.
He was also a keen sports fan and supported both Mayo and Galway and the county jerseys were taken to the church. Willie loved his family and his grandchildren.
Large crowds attended his removal from the home of his daughter, Anna, to St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, for Mass, which was celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P., assisted by Fr. Conor Eustace, Ballinrobe.
Readings were given by Bernie and Karel Collins, his daughters-in-law. Gifts were taken to the altar by Sean Óg and Roisin Collins, his grandchildren. The communion reflection was given by Liam Collins, his son. Burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.
Willie will be missed by his family, his many friends and neighbours.
His survived by his wife Mary, daughter Anna, sons Jimmy, Sean and Liam, grandson Sean Óg and granddaughter Roisin. Also, Bernie, Karel and Seamus as well as brothers, sister and extended family.
May he rest in peace.

She is survived by daughters, sons, sister and extended family. Mary Kate was laid to rest on Saturday, January 5, in Killawalla Cemetery following noon Mass.

Congratulations to Sean Philbin son of Barbara and Frank, Gortmore, Tourmakeady, who celebrated his 21st birthday with a function at Máire Luke’s. Sean is brother of Sarah, Liam and Padraig.

We offer our sympathy to Mrs. Mary Philbin, Portroyal, Partry, on the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Ingley (née Philbin), Belmullet. She was sister of the late John Philbin, Portroyal.
Her remains were removed from Partry Community Centre to Partry Church on Sunday, December 30, and burial took place following 11 a.m. Mass on Monday in Ballyovey Cemetery.
Mary is survived by her husband and family and her sisters, nieces and nephews.

If anyone is interested in taking part in the Ireland Reaching Out (Ireland XO) project which is based on a simple idea; instead of waiting for people of Irish descent to trace their roots, we go the other way. Working through voluntary effort at a townland, village and parish level, we identify who left, and trace them and their descendants and invite them to become part of an extended “virtual” community with their place of origin. Coiste Cultúr Teanga agus Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Teo welcomes you to the Gathering Ireland 2013 a reunion celebration for the many pupils from far and wide, who attended schools in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh before the year 2000. Events will take place from 31st of May to June 2nd . We welcome you to join us in Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh and to bring your memorabilia such as old photos, school books, stories and so on but most important bring yourself.
The events will cover a special buffet dinner and music for over 300 in Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh which as you know has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. In addition there will be aspects of traditional ways of life of long ago demonstrated and displayed, music sessions, drama and many other attractions.
