Restaurant open The restaurant at The Village Inn, Partry, is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from 5.30 to 8.30pm and for Sunday lunch special from 1pm to 6.30pm. Booking is advisable at 094 9543249.

Tenders are invited for the preparation work for the Coiste Pobail to form a company limited by guarantee and the audit of future Company Accounts.   Please send your expression of interest to the Coiste Pobail, Halla Tourmakeady, Tourmakeady, Claremorris, County Mayo.   

Coiste Cultúr Teanga Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Summer Camp through Irish.   Application Forms available in Hall Tourmakeady.

Recycling Notice   –   The only household items that should be disposed of at the recycling area are glass, cans and clothes and they should be placed in the appropriate recycling container. We would like to remind everyone that CCTV Cameras are in operation in this area.    Thank you. 

Welfare Officer - The Social Welfare officer is in attendance at the Medical Centre on Wednesdays 12 noon to 1.00pm

Safety Reminder to Walkers – Please wear reflective clothing while out walking - in particular at night.

Week ending 15th May 2009

Thank you    The Parent’s Council of Coláiste Mhuire, Tuar Mhic Éadaigh would like to thank everyone who sponsored the recent Camel Race night at Máire Luke’s Bar and Restaurant. Thanks also to all who sold camels, gave spot prizes and sold tickets for the big event. Special thanks to Frank and Barbara Philbin for all their help throughout. The total raised was €8,000 which will be used to install broadband to all classrooms in the school, purchase of laptops and overhead projectors.

First Holy Communion   Congratulations to the six children who received their First Holy Communion at St Mary’s Church, Partry on Sunday, May 3, in a ceremony performed by Fr Desmond Grogan, PP. They were: twins Leagh and Darragh Byrne, Conor Gibbons, Joseph Lees, Aaron McDonnell and Pearce Munroe. Great credit to all the parents and especially Treasa Heran for all the preparation over the last eight or nine months.

Mass helpers   
Noreen Maloney will read at the 8pm Saturday night Mass in Tourmakeady. Eucharistic Ministers are Kathleen Staunton and Carmel Garvey. John Power will read at the Sunday morning 11.30am Mass. The Eucharistic Ministers are Mary Sheridan and Martin O’Neill. Church Care Week, The Tawnagh Ladies.

Birthday wishes  Congratulations to Sean Heneghan, Clonee, Partry, on celebrating his special birthday with family and friends at Máire Luke’s, Tourmakeady at the weekend.

Happy birthday   Congratulations to Mrs Mary Dolan, Upper Churchfield, Tourmakeady, who celebrated her 80th birthday at the weekend. Still a ‘cailín óg’, Mary (nee Higgins) got messages from many parts of the world on her big day – daughters Bridie and Bernie, Chicago, Mary Ann and Trish, Castlebar and Tourmakeady, sons Paddy, Tourmakeady, Joe and Tom in Donegal and Derry, respectively. Also sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and extended family throughout Mayo, Donegal and Chicago, all of whom continue to wish Mary many more years of happiness and good luck.

Sad death  
We regret to announce the sudden death of Fr Sean Bourke in Hong Kong in his 63rd year. Fr Sean was a regular visitor to Tourmakeady, where he celebrated Mass in St Mary’s Church and performed many marriages with Tourmakeady associates. His mother was formerly Kerrigan of Shanvallyard, Tourmakeady. Fr Sean was first cousin of Martin Ronan, Upper Churchfield.  Burial takes place in Hong Kong on this Thursday, May 14. Sympathy is extended to all his family. May his soul rest in peace.

Entertainment   On stage for the first time at Máire Luke’s, Tourmakeady, this Friday night, May 15, are ‘Cois Tine’, with Lynda Welby and her top-class hit, ‘The Galway Girl’. Coming Sunday night for the European Cup Final is the famous Jack the Duke Show. Restaurant open every Sunday from 1 to 6pm. Booking at 094 9544080.

Win for Tourmakeady  Tourmakeady Minor team had a great victory over Mayo Gaels in the Mayo Minor League on Friday last. Once again the Paddy Walsh Memorial Cup was a great success, in perfect conditions. ‘The Whites’ had a goal victory over the ‘All Blacks’. Mrs Mary McGovern-Walsh presented the cup to Captain Michael James Meeneghan. All proceeds go to cancer research.  Thanks to the Walsh family and also the referee, Tom Heneghan, who could give lessons to the day-to-day officials on television.

GAA lotto  There was no outright winner in the Tourmakeady GAA weekly lotto held at The Lough Mask Inn. Numbers drawn were 9, 12, 24 and 26. Consolation winners were Mamie McNally, Ballintubber; Steven Donoghue, Gortmore; PJ Sheridan, Shanvallyard; Tommie Gibbons, Gortnacullin; and Mary S Heneghan, Gortnacullin. Next draw will be in The Village Inn, Partry on Saturday night, May 16, with Andrew Gibbons and Team F on duty.

Comhghairdeas le Niamh Ni Dhufaigh, baill do Óige na Gaeltacha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh a tháinig sa triú áit i gComórtas Talaine a bhí á reachtáil ag Óige na Gaeltachta do Clubanna san Ghaeltacht. Congratulations to Niamh Duffy   Óige na Gaeltachta Tuar Mhic Éadaigh is delighted and proud to announce that Niamh came third in the All Ireland Óige na Gaeltacht Talent Competition for her excellent Sean-Nós dance.    The event was held in Leitir Móir on Saturday May 9th.   Also a very big thank you to all the members of the club that joined us at the event and made sure that they showed their support on the evening for Niamh.

Comhghairdeas le Coiste Pobail Thuar Mhic Éadaigh a fuair an chéad duais i Rannóg na nEagraíochtaí Deonacha dechomórtas 'An Bhaile Beo 2008 nuair a fograíodh toradh na duaiseanna óiche Dé Céadaoin seo caite.  Buíochas mór do chuile dhuine a d'oibrí go crua  agus do Nora McHugh King a chur an iarratas le chéile agus a ghlac an duais thar ceann an choiste.

Coiste Pobal Tuar Mhic Éadaigh is delighted to announce that they were first prize winners of the Baile Beo competition for Voluntary Community Groups in the Gaeltacht.  We are very grateful to everyone that worked so hard on the entry and in particular to Nora McHugh King for helping and accepting the prize on our behalf.
