The Gathering Ireland 2013
Coiste Cultúr Teanga agus Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Teo in line with many other communities in Ireland welcomes you home for the Gathering Ireland 2013. In particular we would like to invite and welcome home for a reunion celebration, the many pupils who attended the following schools in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh listed here Páirc a Doire N.S., Glenmask N.S., Glensaul N.S., The Monastery, Srah N.S., Trean N.S., Coláiste Chonnacht , and Coláiste Muire. We are in the process of finalising events that will take place over a number of days from the 31st of May to June 2nd 2013. We invite you, family and friends to come home and celebrate with us. We welcome you to join us in Halla Thuar Mhic Éadaigh where there will be events over a period of days from Friday 31st May Saturday 1st June and 2nd Sunday June. The events will cover a special buffet dinner and music for over 300 in Halla Thuar Mhic Éadaigh which as you know has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. In addition there will be aspects of traditional ways of life of long ago demonstrated and displayed, music sessions, drama and many other attractions still to be finalised. Cycling Club
We previously stated that on the Sunday November 25 we would have a family bike ride. THIS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE as we don’t want to clash with the Duck Race which is being organised for that day by Tourmakeady National School. A new date for the family bike ride will be announced later. We have also decided that we will start the cycling skills again in the New Year and in the meantime we wish to thank the parents for their great support and contribution.

The latest winners of Tourmakeady Hall bonus number draw are Liam & Siobhán De Búrca and Martin Prendergast both winners receive €100 each for having bonus number 10. Next draw Saturday at 8 o’clock. Your continued support of the community hall is really appreciated and is helping us to reduce the loan.

Mayo People of the Year Awards: The awards was announced last Thursday night in the Welcome Inn Castlebar. This years Gradam na Gaeilge goes to Ceol na Locha Committee (Past and Present) for organising a summer school of music in the area since 1999.
The presentation of the awards will take place at a gala banquet in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar on Friday 30th November at 8pm. Tickets for the banquet can be booked by contacting Nora in Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh at 094-9544295. Tickets are priced at €50 each, with all proceeds going to Rehab in Castlebar.

Public Procurement Training
The rules around applying for funding which many of you may require to complete community projects have become very stringent. There are strict guidelines in relation to obtaining quotations and using auditable criteria for selection of contractors. Tóchar Valley Rural Community Network are currently organising a training session for community members so that you will have the necessary understanding of the new rules. Tóchar Valley Rural Community Network will shortly provide dates and venues.
Welfare Officer
A social welfare officer will be in attendance every Thursday between 12 noon and 1 p.m. at the Medical Centre, Tourmakeady.
Weekly bus service to Castlebar
Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m.

The event will start with Mass in Tourmakeady for all deceased members followed by a dinner dance in Westport. Duck race
Tourmakeady National School are holding the first ever duck race in Tourmakeady and it will take place on Sunday next, November 25, on Glensaul River starting at 1 p.m. from the waterfall to the church.
Ducks cost €5 each or you can buy five for €20. They can be had from Tourmakeady school.
Lotto news
There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto on November 10. The numbers drawn were 1, 6, 17 and 25.
The consolation winners were Peter Heveran, Partry, Pat Naughton, Ballybannon, Liam Conroy, Treenlar, Bridie Lally, Tourmakeady, and Andrew Gibbons, Churchfield. Tickets are on sale for €2 each or three for €5.
Sympathy
We extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Rosaleen Ward of the Lough Inn, Partry, on the death of her brother, Nathy Stenson, Claremorris, and Banada, Sligo Burial took place in Kilmatigue Cemetery on Thursday, November 15. Sympathy to the Stenson and Ward families. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations to all associated with the 2012 SERVE/Robe Pastoral area Philippines project on winning the Rehab Mayo People of the Year award. It was a wonderful achievement for the people in the four parishes. The awards ceremony will take place in Breaffy House Hotel on Friday, November 30. Tickets are €50 and are now available.
Floodlights and table quiz
CLG Tuar Mhic Éadaigh is proud to launch their new floodlights by hosting the semi-finals of the annual Under 16 Comortas Peile na Locha tournament in Páirc Naomh Muire on December 1.
Medals will be presented on the evening to the championship winning Under 14, Under 16 and minor teams of 2012. A fundraising table quiz will take place afterwards in O'Toole's Bar.
Annual card game
Following the success of last year, CLG Tuar Mhic Éadaigh will again be running a series of card games at local venues throughout the month of December. Winners go through to a grand final to be held in January 2013 with a first prize of €1,000 to be won. Games commence on December 1.
Christmas lotto giveaway
If the GAA lotto jackpot is not won before December 22, there will be a guaranteed Christmas giveaway of €2,000, made up of one prize of €1000, two prizes of €500, and five prizes of €100.
All tickets bought during the previous two weeks will be included in the giveaway draw.

Cycling Club
A great start with many children attending the bike learning skills. The programme has commenced and will continue for this coming Sunday November 18 at 12.30pm in Tourmakeady National School. Your bikes should be in good working order and bike helmets are compulsory. We also need the parents/families to join their children and to get involved and so help with organisation and support of this short weekly activity. We previously stated that on the Sunday November 25 we would have a family bike ride using the 10k mini marathon route and finish at the hall with light refreshments. THIS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE as we do not wish to clash with the Duck Race which is being organised for that day by Tourmakeady National School. A new date for the family bike ride will be announced later. We thank the parents for their great support and contribution. The Older Youth Club (age 13 years upwards) will commence on Wednesday November 21 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Registration is €15 and takes place on the night. The fee covers youth club insurance for the year.

Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m.

Tourmakeady Group Water Scheme 2012 rates are now due and should be paid as soon as possible into Kevin O’Toole’s shop. All arrears are also requested to be paid. Cheques should be made payable to Tourmakeady Group Water Scheme.

The first duck race in Tourmakeady will take place on Sunday, November 25, on Glensaul River starting at 1 p.m. from the waterfall to the church. Ducks cost €5 each or five for €20 and can be had from Tourmakeady school.

Good win for Coláiste
Coláiste Muire 6-9 Sancta Maria, Louisburgh 5-11 Coláiste Muire, Tuar Mhic Eadaigh, enjoyed a winning start to their first and second year league campaign. They defeated a very strong Sancta Maria, Louisburgh, side in Tourmakeady. Sancta Maria dominated the first half and were well up at half-time - 4-8 to 3-2. Highlights from the first half included two Dylan Mulroe goals and a left-footed Ciarán Stundún point from an acute angle. Coláiste Muire came out a changed team in the second half. Goals from Liam Burke (Ballinrobe) and Frank Carr brought Coláiste Muire back into the game. Further points from Stiofán Stundún (two) and one each from Luke Byrne, Cathal Stundún and Frank Carr ensured a nervy finish. With one minute remaining Liam Burke scored a goal to give the home side a dramatic victory by the narrowest of margins.
Deaths
The death has taken place of Mr. Keith Newton, Gortmore, Tourmakeady, and formerly of Cornwall, England. He was well-known many years ago for his travelling shop, calling twice weekly to older residents and those living alone.
Burial took place in Galway on Wednesday last. May he rest in peace.
The death has taken place in New York of Pat Meeneghan, formerly of Gortfree, Tourmakeady. He was uncle of Tom Meeneghan, Galway, and formerly of Carheen, Tourmakeady, and Mary O’Brien, The Neale, Ballinrobe. Sympathy is extended to his nieces in Clare, England and New York. May he rest in peace.
Double celebration
It was a double celebration for local girl Shauna Barker, daughter of Sean and Eileen Barker, Treenlaur, Tourmakeady, who was conferred with an honours Bachelor of Education degree in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, and who also celebrated her 21st birthday with family and friends. Shauna is a granddaughter of Annie Barker.
Death
The death has taken place of Noreen Stack, Enniscrone, County Sligo. Formerly Noreen Derrig, Tourmakeady, she was predeceased by her husband Eamonn earlier this year. She is survived by her sons and daughters. Noreen was sister of Sean Derrig, Tourmakeady, Bridie, Castlebar, and Eileen, Galway, She was laid to rest on Saturday, November 10.

Tourmakeady senior footballers completed their home games for the 2012 season with a great four-point victory over county finalists Burrishoole in the Mayo senior league. The final score was Tourmakeady 0-12, Burrishoole 0-8. Those who turned in good performances for Tourmakeady were Stephen Staunton, the Prendergast brothers, Kevin Dolan, the Naughton duo and Michael John Walsh - this 42-year-old had another great day getting on the scoreboard.

Cycling Club
A great start with many children attending the bike learning skills. The programme has commenced and will continue for this coming Sunday November 18 at 12.30pm in Tourmakeady National School. Your bikes should be in good working order and bike helmets are compulsory. We also need the parents/families to join their children and to get involved and so help with organisation and support of this short weekly activity. We previously stated that on the Sunday November 25 we would have a family bike ride using the 10k mini marathon route and finish at the hall with light refreshments. THIS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE as we do not wish to clash with the Duck Race which is being organised for that day by Tourmakeady National School. A new date for the family bike ride will be announced later. We thank the parents for their great support and contribution. Agenda - 1) Presentation on Rural Alliances - Mayo County Council is one of 12 partners from 6 European countries involved in the Rural Alliances project which is supported by the INTERREG IVB North West Europe programme and is aimed at promoting strong and prosperous communities in rural areas. The Rural alliance project will look at ways of forming alliances between local businesses and community groups to help their communities adapt to the changing circumstances in modern rural society.

Weekly bus service to Castlebar
Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m.
The Older Youth Club (age 13 years upwards) will commence on Wednesday November 21 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Registration takes place on the night and is €15 it covers youth club insurance for the year.

Mayo People of the Year Awards: The awards was announced last Thursday night in the Welcome Inn Castlebar. This years Gradam na Gaeilge goes to Ceol na Locha Committee (Past and Present) for organising a summer school of music in the area since 1999.
The presentation of the awards will take place at a gala banquet in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar on Friday 30th November at 8pm. Tickets for the banquet can be booked by contacting Nora in Halla Tuar Mhic Éadaigh at 094-9544295. Tickets are priced at €50 each, with all proceeds going to Rehab in Castlebar.

Agenda - 1) Presentation on Rural Alliances - Mayo County Council is one of 12 partners from 6 European countries involved in the Rural Alliances project which is supported by the INTERREG IVB North West Europe programme and is aimed at promoting strong and prosperous communities in rural areas. The Rural alliance project will look at ways of forming alliances between local businesses and community groups to help their communities adapt to the changing circumstances in modern rural society.
2) Presentation by EirGrid - EirGrid is the state-owned, independent electricity transmission system operator in Ireland. Grid25 is EirGrid’s plan to develop and upgrade the electricity transmission network from now until 2025 3) Local issues that you want the Community Representatives to highlight on your behalf 4) AOB. This meeting is an opportunity for community groups to raise issues that the Forums Representatives can highlight at the Extended Area meetings that take place with Mayo County Council.

Cycling Club
A great start with many children attending the first day of learning and improving cycling skills. The programme has commenced and is on for a further two Sundays November 11 and November 18 at 12.30pm in Tourmakeady National School. Your bikes should be in good working order and bike helmets are compulsory. We also need the parents/families to join their children and to get involved and so help with organisation and support of this short weekly activity. On the Sunday November 25 we will organise a family bike ride using the 10k mini marathon route and finish at the hall with light refreshments. For more information call 087 1162058

Your bikes should be in good working order and bike helmets will be compulsory. We need parents and families to join their children and to get involved and so help with organisation and support of this short weekly activity. Wedding
THE wedding took place with Papal Blessing on Saturday, October 20, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Swinford, between Miss Niamh Gallagher, only daughter of Mary and Máirtin Gallagher, Swinford, and Mr. Brian Naughton, second son of Ann and Pat Naughton, Tourmakeady. The ceremony was performed by Fr. Dermot Meehan, Swinford, and Fr. John Kenny, Tourmakeady.
Chief bridesmaid was Máire McCann, with Donna Gallagher and Dearbhla Gallagher. Best man was Tomas Naughton, groomsmen were David Prendergast and Stephen O’Neill. The readings were given by Eoin Gallagher and Siobhán McSharry. Music and song was supplied by Sinead Conway and Kieran Quinn. The reception was held in the Castlecourt Hotel, Wesport, and the communities of Swinford and Tourmakeady wish the happy couple good wishes and long life together.

Congratulations to the three young gentlemen who celebrated their 18th birthdays at the weekend with a party for friends and relations. The birthday boys were Martin Prendergast, son of Raymond and Jacqueline Prendergast, Letterineen, Stephen Heneghan, son of Michael and Mary Heneghan, and Brian Gibbons, son of Peter and Una Gibbons, both of Kilfaul, Partry.

Death
The death took place in London of Michael Lally, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady. He was brother of Christy Lally, Bridie and Mary (all Chicago). He was laid to rest in Clare last week. May his soul rest in peace.

Death
The death took place in London of Michael Lally, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady. He was brother of Christy Lally, Bridie and Mary (all Chicago). He was laid to rest in Clare last week. May his soul rest in peace.
