Partry bonus number draw winners  The latest winners of the Partry bonus number draw, which is run in conjunction with the Partry residents association, were Charlotte Duignan, Portroyal and Mary Heneghan, Kilfaul. Both girls receive €100 each for choosing number three. The next draw is on Saturday, July 25. 

Mayo Manchester United Club If anyone is the Tourmakeady/Partry areas wishes to join the Mayo Manchester United club, with a view to receiving match tickets or trips to Old Trafford, contact Des, at (087) 2215027. 

Tourmakeady Hall bonus number game results  Well done to Nina and John Lydon, Carheen and Kathleen Connolly, on winning the July 18th  Tourmakeady Hall bonus number game. They will receive €100 for picking number three. There will be more winners on Saturday, July 25. 

Under 12 footballers victory Tourmakeady Under 12 footballers had a great victory over Garrymore, in the Mayo under 12 league, on a final score of Tourmakeady 3-13 to Garrymore 1-7.    In the Kelly Cup, Tourmakeady defeated Castlebar, on a score of Tourmakeady 1-14 to Castlebar Mitchels 1-5 and Kilmeena 0-6 to Tourmakeady 2-6. 

Brilliant Bumble Bee Show on Friday  Back by demand at the weekend, at Máire Luke’s, Tourmakeady, on Friday, July 24, are the Brilliant Bumble Bee. On Sunday, July 26, Caroline and John Eaton will perform. A big crowd is expected for the country and western dance band. On Sunday, August 2, there will be live music with Conor and Co.

Food is served every Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday lunch is served from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Booking is advised, at (094) 9544080.  

Loolera monthly draw Well done to Ann Mulroe, Grianan, Tourmakeady, who won the June prize in the Tourmakeady Loolera monthly draw. The next draw is on Friday, July 31st.

New baby boy Congratulations to Neasa and Frank Burke, Portroyal, Partry, on the birth of their baby son Seamus Michael, at the Mayo General Hospital recently. Baby Seamus is a proud grandson for Ann and Billy Burke, Portroyal, Partry. 

Daily special at the Lough Inn The Lough Inn restaurant, Partry, is open every day, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a daily special on Monday to Friday, at €9.95. Telephone (094) 9543016 for further information. Lotto tickets are on sale at this venue, at €2. 

GAA weekly lotto results There was no outright winner of the weekly GAA lotto, held in O’Tooles, Tourmakeady. The numbers drawn were 2, 12, 23 and 24. Consolation prizes went to Gerard Doherty, c/o Goirtinmore, Tourmakeady, Nick Mannion, Kilfaul, Partry, Noreen Hughes, Derryveeney, Marion O’Malley, Srah and Catherine Joyce, Shanvallyard. The next draw is on Saturday, July 25, at the Lough Inn, Partry, with Tom Whelan and team c on duty. 

The Village Inn opening hours The Village Inn, Partry, is now open every day, from 12 noon to 5.30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday, from 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. for special evening meals and Sunday lunch, between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Booking is advised at (094) 95 43249.   

CD on sale A number of copies of the 18 track CD The Championship Man, by Liam Horan, well known sportsman, are available from Michael John Casey, at (087) 6883624 or Corrigan’s, Ballintubber, at €15. It would make an ideal gift.  

Home support workers needed   Mayo home care services cooperative needs home support workers who are interested in care of the elderly. This is care for the elderly in their own homes, for weekdays and occasional weekend work.  Please contact Mayo home care services cooperative, at (094) 9382156 for further details.  

Sean-Nos Dancing Anyone wishing to learn the art of sean-nos dancing is asked to contact Trish at 086-8722353. Classes or adults and children will be held in Tourmakeady in September. 

Look after your valuables. People are asked not to leave any valuables visible in their cars whilst they are left vacant, for example attending Mass, attending walking trips or sports events, as there have been some unwanted visitors to the area recently.

Recycling Notice The only household items that should be disposed of at the recycling area are glass, cans and clothes and they should be placed in the appropriate recycling container. We would like to remind everyone that CCTV Cameras are in operation in this area.   Thank you.

Welfare Officer - The Social Welfare officer is in attendance at the Medical Centre on Wednesdays 12 noon to 1.00pm

Church Rota Deirdre Cavanagh will read at the Saturday night Mass at 8.30 p.m. in St. Mary’s, Tourmakeady. Eucharistic Ministers are Michael John Casey and Aine Uí Conghaile. Tomas O’hEanachan will read at the 11.30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Eucharistic Ministers are Mary Sheridan and Martin O’Neill. On church care week are Ann Marie Heneghan and Ann O’Toole and Katie Clarke.

Engagement congratulations  Congratulations to Tourmakeady football star Ciaran Walsh, son of Margaret and the late Paddy Walsh, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady, on his engagement to Limerick lady, Christine Prendergast, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Prendergast, Limerick. The GAA club wishes the happy couple all the best for their future plans.

Also to Anthony McCusker, son of Mary and Brian McCusker, on his engagement to Ms. Sarah Madden, Dublin, recently. Good wishes to this sparkling couple.

Defibrillator secured Well done to Andrew Gibbons, of Fon-Fit fame, who has secured a much needed defibrillator for Coláiste Muire, Tourmakeady. Six members of the staff will be trained to use it. Well done to all concerned.

Night out at Máire Luke’s A packed house is expected at Máire Luke’s, on Friday, July 17, for The Western Care, Ballinrobe, branch, night out. There will be lots of prizes and surprises. GAA local lotto Thereno outright winners of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto held at Màire Luke’s, on Saturday last. The numbers chosen were 7, 8, 14 and 19. Consolation winners were Fiona Heneghan, Churchfield and Kathleen Feeley, Claremorris and Siobhan Uí hEanachain, Tuar Mhic Éadaigh. Also Martin Staunton, Drimcoggy and Tom Heneghan, Churchfield. The next draw will be held on Saturday, July 18th at O’Tooles and team B is on duty.

Welcome Aoife  Congratulations to Martina and Philip Walsh of Ballygar, Galway and Drimcoggy, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby daughter Aoife. Baby Aoife is grandaughter of Maureen Walsh, Drimcoggy and Mr. and Mrs. Feeney, Ballygar. 

Bereaved We extend our sympathy to Mrs. Tess Burke, Cappaduff, Tourmakeady, on the death in Cork of her brother Paddy Coughlan. Paddy was uncle of Pat and John Burke, both of Tourmakeady. Burial took place in Cork. May his soul rest in peace. 

Mass Readers  Betty McGeough will read at the 8.30 Saturday evening Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady. Eucharistic Ministers are Julie Lally and Brid Heneghan. Marion O’Malley will read at the Sunday morning 11.30 Mass and Eucharistic Ministers will be Sadie Molloy and Martin O’Neill.   Church Care week: Tawnagh girls. 

New arrival  Congratulations to Barbara and Anthony Hayes of Cork and Ballybannon, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby boy Tadg.  Baby Tadh is grandson of Margaret Folan, Ballybannon. 

Died in Cork  The death has taken place in Cork of Tadg Hayes, father of Anthony Hayes and father-in-law of Barbara Folen-Hayes, Ballybannon. We extend our sympathy to his widow and family. May his soul rest in peace. 

Defeated  Tourmakeady were defeated by Castlebar Mitchels on Sunday in McHale Park on a final score of 0-7 to 0-10. Tourmakeady must now meet the might of Claremorris, Swinford, Aghamore and Ballintubber in the league.
