Greetings to all. My name is Liam O'Malley. I'm an American looking to spend some time in a Connnachta speaking Gaeltacht. I'm hoping someone would be interested in some borderline free labor, especially anyone who raises sheep. I've a good deal of experience with wool production, cleaning, carding, dyeing, spinning, weaving and knitting, and I'd love to get some experience with shepherding and shearing. I'm also looking to learn the language, and I've a good deal of experience picking up languages quickly on the job (Icelandic, Danish and Spanish). I'm happy to work for room and board plus maybe a small amount for pints on the weekends, I'm tidy and generally keep to myself. I'm quite happy to provide references upon request. As I'd said, I'm looking primarily at shepherding or wool work, but I've a great deal of bartending experience, I spent three summers fishing for my food and I'm a master of digging the hole and working iron (i can make horseshoes from flat stock but I've never tried to shoe one), and I'm just looking for a situation where I'm not losing money on living expenses and can learn the language, so I'm pretty cheap and easy. If anyone is up for taking me on, or willing at the least to consider it, Please contact me and I'll send a CV. Cead mile failte, You can email me at Iiam.aom@gmail.com

Opportunity for 2 Mayo teachers to work in this year’s Gaeltacht in Canada! Mayo County Council and Gaeltacht Thuaisceart an Oileáin Úir (The North American Gaeltacht) are giving an opportunity to 2 Gaeilgeoirí from or living in Mayo to work in Canada as a teacher for a week as part of their Summer Course from the 9 - 15 August, with their travel and accommodation provided.
Gaeltacht Thuaisceart an Oileáin Úir is situated in Tamworth/Erinsville Ontario, it opened on June 16 2007, when a group of people with a great fondness for the language and culture decided to buy a plot of land to create the first Gaeltacht outside of Ireland. Their aim is to have an area where Irish is spoken as a community language and to provide an opportunity for people to immerse themselves in all aspects of Irish culture. A variety of people from different backgrounds attend the courses at this Gaeltacht, people whose descendants originated from Ireland, and even people who have no attachment to Ireland but have a “grá” for our language and culture. Gaeltacht Thuaisceart an Oileáin Úir does its best to immerse every student in all aspects of Irish culture - language, sport, dance, music, food, folklore, and they provide classes and workshops in all of these areas during their summer course. Gaeltacht Thuaisceart an Oileáin Úir has strong links with Mayo, with Mayo people having travelled there for the past five years and members of their Gaeltacht community attending events in Mayo. A number of years ago, one member of their community spent six weeks learning Irish in Ceathrú Thaidhg, and another spent three weeks in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh. A group of 27 spent 5 days in the Mayo Gaeltacht in October 2013.
If you are over 21 years of age, have fluent Irish, experience in teaching and organising fun activities and are interested in being part of the Gaeltacht Thuaisceart an Oileáin Úir 2015 experience, send your CV with a cover letter explaining what you can contribute to this year’s Gaeltacht course togaeilge@mayococo.ie before 5pm on Friday, 22 May 2015.

This is a copy of one of the Ceol na Locha teachers. She has kindly sent us her profile. We would be very grateful if you would do one for yourself as we would like to raise the profile of Ceol na Locha and to use it on our website.
Clare has been performing and teaching music for over 20 years and brings a wealth of styles and influences to her playing. She has studied music all her life and has a degree and teaching diploma in music. Coming from a classical background Clare went on to study jazz and world music before becoming completely hooked on traditional music while at college and went on to play with the folk group Legacy.
Clare moved to Ireland 11 years ago and now works as a tutor for Mayo E.T.B. and runs her own music teaching business specialising in classical flute and traditional flute and whistles teaching the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Comhaltas syllabi and is dedicated to training the next generation of young musicians here at her home in Co. Mayo. As well as a busy teaching schedule Clare still performs and writes music playing with local band Seoda, featuring two past students, Tribal Caul and her band Legacy back in the U.K.
