Well known Irish dramatist and author Brian Friel’s play “Dancing at Lughnasa” will be staged in Halla Tourmakeady, Tourmakeady on Friday 7th March 2014 with the Kilmeena Drama Group.

Bonus number the winners of the Tourmakeady Hall bonus number draw are Liam Beirne and Willie & Alas Lally winners receives €100 for having bonus number 22.  Thank you for your support. 

To Mark the Feast Day of St Brigit and the beginning of spring join us at Halla Thuar Mhic Éadaigh on Friday 31st January at 6.15pm to make traditional reed St Brigit crosses. €3 per family.  Young and old welcome - refreshments will be provided.

The 6th Annual Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail Walking Festival in Association with Croí takes place on 22nd Saturday & 23rd Sunday March 2014. Registration for festival is through the Croí website www.croi.ie/heritagefestival,

Bereavement
Large crowds turned out from many parts of Ireland to say farewell to Mrs. Noreen Dermody, Gortnacullin, Srah, Tourmakeady. She was born in Newry, Co. Armagh, Noreen Hanaway, in 1948 and emigrated to Chicago, U.S.A., where she met and married Tourmakeady man Bernie Dermody, in 1972  They were blessed with two sons and a daughter and then returned to Ireland to start a new life.

For a number of years Noreen was in poor health but got all the help and care possible from her family and neighbours. On Friday, January 10, Noreen’s remains were removed to St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, from Tourmakeady funeral parlour.

Burial took place on Saturday following Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny P.P., assisted by Fr. Desmond Grogan. Noreen is survived by her husband Bernie, sons Marty and Pat, daughter Colleen, daughters-in-law Madeleine and Kelly, grandchildren, brother Patrick, sisters Fidelas, Joan, Pauline, Ann and Brona. Also extended family members. May she rest in peace.

Engagement
Congratulations to Mr. Kieran Rogan, son of Judy and Jerome Rogan, Cappenacreha, Tourmakeady, on his engagement to Ms. Ann Hand, Ashbourne, Co. Meath. Best wishes and good luck to the happy couple in the future.

Church gate collection
The annual pro-life church gate collection will be taken up at all Masses in Tourmakeady and Partry, on the weekend of January 25 and 26.

Thank you
Mrs. Julia Lally, Derryveeney, Tourmakeady, would like to say a big thank you to each and everyone who sent Mass bouquets, cards, and enrolments for her daughter Noreen Hughes and her son Michael Lally, Chicago U.S.A., who regretfully passed away.

They are all very much appreciated. Sympathy is extended to Noreen on the death of Michael. May he rest in peace.

Well done
Well done to Tom Whelan, Ballybannon, Tourmakaedy, on winning the Colaiste Muire 50-50 weekly draw on Friday, January 10.

Darts grand prix
The darts grand prix will take place at Maire Lukes Bar on Sunday, February 2. All names can be given now to Martin, at (086) 8194702. The entry fee is €10.

The first 40 names in groups of five will play a round robin. The first prize is €300. The groups’ draw takes place on Saturday, February 1. The first game is on Sunday, February 2, at 5 p.m.

Birthday wishes
Congratulations to Mr. J. J. Heneghan, Chicago, Illinois, son of James and Mary Ann Heneghan, Shangort, Srah, Tourmakeady, who celebrated his 40th birthday recently.

He was surprised by the visit of his sister Maureen and brother Liam, who travelled from Ireland for the occasion. He is also brother of Rita Conroy Dublin and Tourmakeady.

Confirmation
The fifth and sixth class of Partry, Killeteaun and Tourmakeady will be confirmed at St. Mary’s Church, Partry, on Friday, February 14, at 1 p.m.

GAA weekly lotto
There was no outright winner of the GAA weekly lotto, held at The Lough Inn. The numbers chosen were 10, 19, 21 and 22.

The consolation winners were Charlie Larkin, Newry, Mattie Ronan, Churchfield Upper, Siobhan Flynn, Gortin A Colle, Fr. Des Grogan, Partry, and Mike Farragher, Partry. The next draw is on January 25, at The Village Inn.

Sincere sympathy
Sincere sympathy is offered to Mrs. Sadie Molloy, Cappaduff, Tourmakeady, on the death of her sister Mrs. Frances Fitzgerald, Falcarragh, Co. Donegal, following a short illness.

Formerly Frances Sharkey she and her husband John both worked for Gaelttarra Eireann.
She was laid to rest on Tuesday, January 14 and is survived by her husband John, three daughters, sisters Sadie and Kathleen. She was aunt of Ina Gibbons and Sean Molloy of Tourmakeady and Kathleen Feeley, Claremorris.

Lotto
THERE was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto. The numbers drawn were 15, 22, 26 and 28. The jackpot now stands at €7,000.

The consolation winners were Teresa O’Haire, Cappaduff, Danny Cox, Gortfree, Pat Doherty, Castlebar, Kitty Kelly, Treenlaur, and John E. Byrne, Ballintubber.

Bonus number
Well done to Mary Staunton and Thomas Hession, Partry, on winning the weekly bonus number draw. They each had number 23.

Birthday
Congratulations to Mr. Kevin Staunton, son of Maura and Tom, Shanvallyard, who celebrated his 21st birthday in Paddy’s Restaurant. He is brother of Niamh, áine, Meabh, Michael and Thomas and grandson of Mary Staunton, Drimcoggy, Srah.

Engagement
Congratulations to Miss Siobhán Heneghan, daughter of May and Owen, Tourmakeady, on her engagement to Mr. Mark Gibbons, son of Margaret and Sean, Ballinern, Partry.

Both Mark and Siobhán are prominent players on Tourmakeady GAA teams.

Winner
Mr. Walter Philbin, Ayle, Westport, was the recent winner in the Colaise Muire 50/50 weekly draw.

Wedding
The wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, Partry, between Miss Christine Conway, daughter of Mary and Billy, Tooreen, Partry and Mr. Patrick O’Sullivan, Limerick.
