Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m.

Tourmakeady got their first points in the GAA league with a good away win over Kiltimagh on Saturday. Two goals from Michéal Ronan and one from Mike Kelly paved the way to a 3-10 to 0-9 victory. Next weekend Tourmakeady are home to Ballina.

Mass
Tickets for pilgrims, from Tuam Diocese, for the Statio Orbis Mass in Croke Park on June 17, which were booked earlier this year, will be distributed through the parishes before the end of May. The timetable for the celebrations in Croke Park on June 17 are as follows, gates open at 12.00, entertainment commences at 1.00, the gathering ceremony commences at 2.00, Mass will begin at 3.00 and the ceremonies will conclude around 5.30.
All pilgrims are advised to be in their seats no later than 2.00 p.m. Parking restrictions will be in place around Croke Park on the day. Pilgrims travelling by coach can be dropped off close to the stadium but Coaches will have to park at designated coach parking areas.
Soccer
An FAI summer soccer camp for boys and girls aged 6-14 will be held at Party Athletic AFC from July 9 to 13. Launch of mini marathon
Senator Eamonn Coghlan officially launched the Tourmakeady mini marathon, which will be held on August 4. Proceeds from the marathon will go to the new recreational park.

New babies
Congratulations to Caroline and Michael O’Neill, Derryveeney, on the birth of their baby son, Rory, at Mayo General Hospital, last week. He is a welcome grandson for Michael and Evelyn O’Neill, Derryveeney.
Congratulations also go to Louise and Pat Conway, Newport and Drimcoggy, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby daughter, Clodagh. She is a sister for Shauna and a granddaughter for Peggy and Padraig Conway, Drimcoggy.

Colaiste Muire, Tourmakeady, is hosting a 25 card drive (partners) in the Colaiste on Thursday, May 17, at 7.30. Prizes for the winners will be €120 and runners-up €80, plus many valuable spot prizes. Refreshment will be served on the night and tickets, priced at €10, are on sale in local pubs and shops and can also be purchased on the night. All proceeds will go to the Irish Kidney Association.

Meeting
The next meeting of the Tourmakeady 2012 Parish Reunion Committee takes place tonight (Tuesday), May 15, at 9 o’clock. A number of tickets still remain for the reunion dinner dance on August 3.
Now is the time to get planting, sowing or painting for the agricultural show to be held on July 22 - first weekend of the reunion festival.

Congratulations to Miss Jodie Sheovlin, daughter of Michael and Carmel Sheovlin, Churchfield, who celebrated her 21st birthday with a function in Maire Lukes. Jodie is sister of Lisa, Mickie, Robbie and Aiden, and a granddaughter of Peggy Heneghan, Churchfield.

Training for all under 8 footballers in Partry Athletic Soccer Club takes place every Saturday between 11 and 12 noon, and training for all under 10 and 12 boys and girls is on every Saturday morning between 11 and 12.30. All boys and girls in the parish are invited to take part in the above training sessions.
Water meeting
Tourmakeady group water scheme held a meeting on Wednesday, May 9, at which it was decided that the water rates for 2012 would be collected for six months plus all the arrears. Payments can be made at Tourmakeady Post Office, or in O’Toole’s shop.
Fishing
The European cup fishing competition takes place on Lough Mask next weekend, May 19 and 20. Presentation of prizes at Maire Lukes on Sunday night. Music will be by Stuart Moyles. On Friday week, May 15, music will be by Chris Loughrey Sound.
Football
Tourmakeady junior team had a great win on Saturday in the Mayo League when they defeated Islandeady by 5-11 to 1-7. The Tourmakeady senior team remain pointless losing to Aughamore on a score of 0-9 to 0-7 in Tourmakeady on Sunday.

Launch of mini marathon
Senator Eamonn Coghlan officially launched the Tourmakeady mini marathon, which will be held on August 4. Proceeds from the marathon will go to the new recreational park.

Colaiste Muire, Tourmakeady, is hosting a 25 card drive (partners) in the Colaiste on Thursday, May 17, at 7.30. Prizes for the winners will be €120 and runners-up €80, plus many valuable spot prizes. Refreshment will be served on the night and tickets, priced at €10, are on sale in local pubs and shops and can also be purchased on the night. All proceeds will go to the Irish Kidney Association.

Meeting
The next meeting of the Tourmakeady 2012 Parish Reunion Committee takes place tonight (Tuesday), May 15, at 9 o’clock. A number of tickets still remain for the reunion dinner dance on August 3.
Now is the time to get planting, sowing or painting for the agricultural show to be held on July 22 - first weekend of the reunion festival.

Soccer training
Training for all under 8 footballers in Partry Athletic Soccer Club takes place every Saturday between 11 and 12 noon, and training for all under 10 and 12 boys and girls is on every Saturday morning between 11 and 12.30. All boys and girls in the parish are invited to take part in the above training sessions.
Water meeting
Tourmakeady group water scheme held a meeting on Wednesday, May 9, at which it was decided that the water rates for 2012 would be collected for six months plus all the arrears. Payments can be made at Tourmakeady Post Office, or in O’Toole’s shop.
Fishing
The European cup fishing competition takes place on Lough Mask next weekend, May 19 and 20. Presentation of prizes at Maire Lukes on Sunday night. Music will be by Stuart Moyles. On Friday week, May 15, music will be by Chris Loughrey Sound.
Football
Tourmakeady junior team had a great win on Saturday in the Mayo League when they defeated Islandeady by 5-11 to 1-7. The Tourmakeady senior team remain pointless losing to Aughamore on a score of 0-9 to 0-7 in Tourmakeady on Sunday.

Calling grandparents
Celebrating Bealtaine (creativity as we age) at the Maple Youth Centre in Ballinrobe on May 14, the parent and toddler group are asking all grandparents to call in on the day from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. with their grandchild of toddler age. This is a free event. The Maple Youth Centre is located on Bowgate Street in Ballinrobe.
Shrine Mass
A big crowd attended the annual Our Lady Mass at the shrine in Tourmakeady on Sunday. The celebrant was Fr. John Kenny, P.P. Sincere thanks to all who helped out on the day and to all who have held with the shrine’s upkeep since 1997. Donations to the shrine are always welcome and can be sent marked Rose, c/o Shrine, Tourmakeady, Claremorris.

The meeting is being held to discuss the issue of outstanding monies. Members and officials from Mayo County Council will be in attendance to discuss the possible takeover of the scheme by the council Every household in the scheme are asked to send a representative.

Reunion meeting
The next meeting of the Tourmakeady 2012 parish reunion committee takes place on Tuesday, May 15, at 9 p.m. About 50 tickets remain for the parish dinner dance on August 3 in Paddy’s Restaurant marquee. Now is the time to get planting, sowing or painting for the agricultural show, to be held on July 22, the first weekend of the reunion festival.
21st birthday
Congratulations to Josie Sheovlin, daughter of Michael and Carmel, Churchfield, Tourmakeady, on the celebration of her 21st birthday. A function was held in Máire Luke’s to mark the occasion. Josie is sister of Lisa, Mickie, Robbie and Aiden and she is also granddaughter of Peggy Heneghan, all Churchfield.

Calling all walkers
A guided walk of the Tourmakeady National Loop will take place on Wednesday May 9 as part of the ‘Mayo Healthy Living Month’. The walk is approx 5km and will be led by a local walker. The walk will begin at 7pm the meeting point is Tourmakeady Community Centre. ‘Mayo Healthy Living Month’ is a health promotion initiative by Croí, the West of Ireland Cardiac Foundation and Mayo Primary, Community and Continuing Care, HSE West. So get your walking shoes on and join us for a scenic walk in your local community!

The Tourmakeady 10k Mini Marathon will be held on Saturday August 4 2012. Weekly bus service to Castlebar
Don’t forget that there is a weekly bus service to Castlebar. Take the hassle out of driving into town. There is a bus every Friday leaving O’Toole’s at 10.30 a.m. Free passes are accepted. It is open to all. Other collection points are available. It returns at approximately 3 p.m.

THE annual Mass at Our Lady’s Shrine, Tourmakeady, takes place on Sunday next, May 6, at 11.30. Rosaleen Molloy will read at the Mass and the Eucharistic Ministers are Patricia Heneghan and Martin O’Neill. Church care week are the Drimcoggy ladies.

The death has taken place at Mayo General Hospital of Paddy Joe (PJ) Heneghan, Ballinaslee, Partry. He was well-known in the area for his sheep dipping registration before his retirement. Removal took place from the community centre to Partry church and following Mass burial took place in Ballyovey Cemetery. He is surived by his relations and neighbours. May he rest in peace.
The death has taken place of Nora Farragher, Ballinern, Partry. A nurse by profession she had retired some years ago. Her remains were removed from the Fr. Horan Centre to Partry church and burial took place in Ballyovey Cemetery. She is survived by her sister Margaret, nieces, nephews and extended family and neighbours.
May she rest in peace.
