Monster 25 card drive
Tuar Mhic Eadaigh GAA Club is hosting a monster 25 card drive on Saturday, February 22, at 9 p.m., at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant. The first prize is €200 to the winning pair.
Proceeds on the night are in aid of Tuar Mhic Eadaigh GAA Club and pitch development, in preparation for the golden anniversary and Comortas Peil, in 2017. There will also be a raffle on the night. The entry fee is €10.
St. Patrick’s Day raffle tickets are on sale at The Village Inn, Partry, O’Tooles, Maire Lukes, Lough Mask Inn, The Larches and The Lough Inn. They are also available from club officers. Every euro spent on the draw will stay in Tourmakeady.

Bereavement
Sincere sympathy is extended to the Ronan family, Lower Churchfield, Tourmakeady, on their double-bereavement within 24 hours.
In London, on February 7, the sudden death took place of Gerry Ronan, in his early 50s and on February 8, the death took place at her home in Lower Churchfield, of Gerry’s mother Philomena Ronan, in her early 80s.
Both remains were laid to rest in Churchfield cemetery, following Mass in Tourmakeady church. Sympathy to Mary, Ann, Eileen, John and Dermot and their extended family members. May their souls rest in peace.

Tourmakeady football club are home to Burrishoole in round one of the 2014 intermediate championship followed by home game to Ballyhaunis and away to Mayo Gaels. The first game is set for May 24./25.

Tuar Mhic Eadaigh GAA Club is hosting a monster 25 card drive on Saturday, February 22, at 9 p.m., in Maire Lukes. The first prize is €200 to the winning pair. Proceeds on the night are in aid of Tuar Mhic Eadaigh GAA Club and pitch development. There will also be a raffle on the night. The entry fee is €10.

The annual meeting of Partry AFC (underage) will be held on Wednesday, February 19, in Partry Community Centre at 8.30 p.m.

Tourmakeady GAA football team has a home championship game on the weekend of May 24 and 25. The team will take on Ballyhaunis in Tourmakeady. In the opening round of the 2014 league Tourmakeady are at home to Westport.
A major fundraising drive is in motion with a big draw taking place on St. Patrick’s Day. There will be 10 super prizes. Tickets cost €10 and are on sale in O’Toole’s, The Lough Mask Inn, Wards, Maire Lukes, The Village Inn, The Larches and also from club members.
Every euro spent will stay in the club. The communities of Partry and Tourmakeady are asked to support this draw.
The Sudden death has taken place of Joe Staunton, Shanvallyard, Tourmakeady, aged 63. His unexpected death has shocked the community and surrounding areas.
Joe was a hard working, intelligent man who could turn his hand to anything. He loved his family and grandchildren. He regularly tuned into MidWest Radio and followed Manchester United.
He was delighted about his family’s interest in the local GAA and in turn a guard of honour was held on Monday, January 27, as his remains were removed from St. Mary’s Funeral Home to Tourmakeady church.
Joe was laid to rest on Tuesday following Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny P.P., assisted by Fr. Desmond Grogan. Readings were by his sons Paul and Alan Staunton. Reflection was meaningfully delivered by his daughter Nicola and son Pat. Music was arranged by the Staunton brothers, Cappaduff. Fr. John Kenny thanked the Staunton family for respecting Joe’s wishes to be an organ donor.
Joe is survived by his wife, Westport born Pauline (nee Hopkins), daughters Deirdre, Martina, Nicola, Sandra and Louise and sons Alan, Pat, James, Paul and Stephen, daughters-in-law Tatyana Staunton, sons-in-law Noel Molloy and David Walsh, four grandchildren and cousins, neighbours, and a large circle of friends. May his soul rest in peace.

Readings were by Sarah Syron and Breege Grufferty, with reflection delivered by Amy Mulrennan. Matrimonial hymns and music were by Brenda Grealis. The bridesmaids were Eimear Hyland and Linda Kelly. Groomsmen were Mikey Staunton and Martin Staunton. The flower girls were Ella Cawley and Aine Grufferty.
The reception was held at The Castlecourt Hotel, Westport. The happy couple are wished a long and healthy life.

Darts The Tourmakeady darts grand prix takes place on next weekend, February 1 and 2, at Máire Lukes. It is open to the first forty names into Martin at (086) 8194702. The forty will be made up of eight groups of five players. Games will be in a round robin series with €300 to the winners.
Entry fee is €10 per player. Draw for the groups takes place at Máire Lukes on Saturday, February 1. Check-in is on Sunday from 4.00-4.45 p.m. Games will start at 5 p.m. sharp.

Anniversary book Anyone with GAA material - photos, articles, match reports, programmes or club history in Tourmakeady, or abroad, are asked to send it to Maura Staunton or Michael John Casey in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the club. Deaths
Gaeltarra Tourmakeady had a great reunion a few months ago. However, a number of those who attended have passed away in the last month.
Mr. Sean Coyne, Galway, who was employed for many years in Tourmakeady, was laid to rest in Bushy Park, Galway, at the start of the year.
On Tuesday, January14, Frances Fitzgerald, formerly Sharkey, was laid to rest in Falcarragh. She, and her husband John, worked in Gaeltarra for a number of years.
On Wednesday, January 15, Mr. Aodh Cronin, 30, son of Sean and the late Nora Cronin, was laid to rest in Ballyvourney, Co. Cork. Both Sean and Nora were employed in Gaeltarra.

St Patrick’s Day There will be a meeting shortly to organise St Patrick’s Day in Tourmakeady. Any ideas or suggestions to make it a special day will be very welcome. Individuals, groups and schools will be invited to attend as in previous years - so start getting the bunting and the green white and gold ready. Date of meeting will be announced next week.
Well known Irish dramatist and author Brian Friel’s play “Dancing at Lughnasa” will be staged in Halla Tourmakeady, Tourmakeady on Friday 7th March 2014 with the Kilmeena Drama Group.

Darts The Tourmakeady darts grand prix takes place on next weekend, February 1 and 2, at Máire Lukes. It is open to the first forty names into Martin at (086) 8194702. The forty will be made up of eight groups of five players. Games will be in a round robin series with €300 to the winners.
Entry fee is €10 per player. Draw for the groups takes place at Máire Lukes on Saturday, February 1. Check-in is on Sunday from 4.00-4.45 p.m. Games will start at 5 p.m. sharp.
Winners Well done to Michael and Maureen Kelly on winning the Partry residence bonus draw. They had number 22.
Anniversary book Anyone with GAA material - photos, articles, match reports, programmes or club history in Tourmakeady, or abroad, are asked to send it to Maura Staunton or Michael John Casey in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the club. All material from 1965 to the present day would be most welcome.

Deaths
Gaeltarra Tourmakeady had a great reunion a few months ago. However, a number of those who attended have passed away in the last month.
Mr. Sean Coyne, Galway, who was employed for many years in Tourmakeady, was laid to rest in Bushy Park, Galway, at the start of the year.
On Tuesday, January14, Frances Fitzgerald, formerly Sharkey, was laid to rest in Falcarragh. She, and her husband John, worked in Gaeltarra for a number of years.
