Back on stage today (Tuesday), December 31, at The Lough Inn Bar and Restaurant, Partry, is Seamus Cafferkey, who will ring in 2014, and complete the ruby anniversary of the Ward family.

Death
The death has taken place at Mayo General Hospital, in her 82nd year, of Mrs. Mai McGing, Glenmask, Tourmakeady, following a short illness.
She was born Mai Feeney, of Carramore, in 1931, and had seen many changes throughout her life. She was a teacher by profession.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael (Sonny), in 2002.
Mai was a hard working lady, who loved her family and grandchildren.
Large crowds paid their respects on Thursday, December 19.
Her remains were removed from St. Mary’s Funeral Home to Tourmakeady Church.
Burial took place on Friday, December 20, following Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny P.P., assisted by Fr. Desmond Grogan.
Readings were given by Tara and Darren McNeela (grandchildren). Music was presented by Ed. Muldoon.
Mai is survived by her son Michael Joe, daughter Mary Teresa, daughter-in-law, Mary, son-in-law, Austin, grandchildren Aishling, Kenneth, Gary, Tara, and Darren, and also sister-in-law Nonie Dolan. Also nieces, nephews and cousins. May her soul rest in peace.
Stone blessed
To mark both the conclusion of The Year of Faith and The Gathering, a stone was blessed by Fr. John Kenny, at Tourmakeady grotto grounds, adjacent to the local church.
It is in memory of the Lydon family, Killeteaun, erected by Josie and Mary Lydon, Killeteaun and Westport.

Céili - The annual Christmas céili will take place in Partry Community Centre on Saturday, 21st December, with music by the brilliant Matt Cunningham Band. Usual raffles and refreshments will be served. Take the floor at 9.30.
Sympathy - Deepest sympathy is extended to Dick and Mags Burke, Knockranny, Westport, on the tragic and unexpected death of their son Shane, 19 He was a past pupil of Colaiste Mhuire, Tuar Mhic Eadagh. The principal, staff and pupils attended Shane's funeral May he rest in peace.
Winners -The latest winners of the Partry residents' bonus number game on 1st December, were Thomas Hession and Mary Staunton. Each of them receives €100 for choosing number 23.
Dancing -The social dancing classes in Partry will resume on Friday, January 10.
Christmas gathering - The Transition Year of Colaiste Muire is having a Christmas gathering on December 19, at 7 p.m. in the Colaiste. Local businesses are invited to promote their wares on the evening. There will be a raffle, entertainment and light refreshments. Admission for adults is €5 and for students and OAPs €2.
Waterfall magazine - The Tourmakeady annual Waterfall magazine is now on sale all the usual outlets. This is a great Christmas gift for people overseas and only costs €8.
Music - On stage at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant on next Friday night, December 21, is the Mick Flavin Band. Admission is ?25 per couple.
Wedding - The marriage took place of Miss Ailish Wall, daughter of Jimmy and Nora Wall, Partry, and Tipperary, to Mr. Paul Killeen, son of Luke and Cara, Caherduff, The Neale. The ceremony was performed by Fr. John Kenny P.P., assisted by Fr. Paddy Gilligan, Fr. Joe Cooney and Fr. Desmond Grogan.
The bride was attended by Aisling Farragher and bridesmaids were Sharon Costello, Nicola Melia and Paula O'Neill. Best man was Eoin Hughes and the groomsmen were Jamie Killeen, John Varley and Patrick Hopkins. Flower girl was Tori Killeen and Finn Hopkins was pageboy
Music was provided by the Brennan sisters and the reception was held in the Castlecourt Hotel, Westpor

The author is Peter Hennelly McLoughlin, Westport and Ballina, whose mother Peggy is a native of Toreen, Partry. Lotto - There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto held on 7th December. The jackpot will be €6,900 when the next draw takes place in Maire Lukes on 21st December.

Calendar - The TY students of Colaiste Mhuire have produced a calendar which features pictures of local personalities and costs just €8.

Walk -Calling all young people (age 16 plus) to come and join the Diocesan Youth Council on the first part of the Tóchar Walk.
The walkers will gather in Ballintubber Abbey at 10.45 a.m. on Monday, December 30, and walk 11 miles of the old pilgrim path (through the fields mainly) to Aughagower.

Lotto - There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA lotto held on 7th December. The jackpot will be €6,900 when the next draw takes place in Maire Lukes on 21st December.

Walk -Calling all young people (age 16 plus) to come and join the Diocesan Youth Council on the first part of the Tóchar Walk.
The walkers will gather in Ballintubber Abbey at 10.45 a.m. on Monday, December 30, and walk 11 miles of the old pilgrim path (through the fields mainly) to Aughagower.

Community litter and cleaner villages
Congratulations to Partry residents, Kilkerran residents, for their various achievements at the 2013 County Community Litter League and Community Cleaner Villages, held at The Castlecourt Hotel, Westport, on December 4.
Kilkerrran residents got first place in their category in the community league. Partry Residents Association also won first place in group C.2. in the community litter league. The awards were accepted by Mrs. Kathleen Kennedy and Mrs. Evelyn Horan respectively.
Christmas gathering
The Transition Year of Colaiste Muire is having a Christmas gathering on 19th December, at 7 p.m. in the Colaiste.
Local businesses are invited to promote their wares on the evening. There will be a raffle, entertainment and light refreshments.
Admission for adults is €5 and for students and OAPs €2.
The students have also made a calendar. The cost is €8. It features local personalities.

Winner of the Partry residents bonus number draw on November 23 was Dympna Byrne, Partry. She claims €100. The next draw is on Saturday, at 8 p.m.
Sincere sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to Aisling and Karl Conroy, Treenlair, Tourmakeady, and Limerick, on the tragic death of Aisling’s sister Mrs. Hazel Frank, in New York. Hazel was bridesmaid at Aisling and Karl’s wedding in March. She was laid to rest in her native Ballygarry, Limerick. May her soul rest in peace.

Santa’s visit to Tourmakeady
Santa will be visiting Halla Tourmakeady on Sunday 15th December from 3.00pm to 5.00pm . You will meet Santa and there will be many activities such as testing your football skills, Wii, Storytime, colouring corner, Hair Braiding, Nail Painting etc. If anyone would like to donate home baking, jams, spot prizes, bottles or any unwanted gifts, the organisers would be very grateful. They may be left at the hall. Volunteers on the day would be very much appreciated
Holly Wreath / Door Garland Workshop Create your own Holly Wreath / Door Swag from scratch at this workshop. Each person will take home their own individually decorated wreaths ready to hang on their Hall Door. The cost for this workshop is €20 per person and must be paid for in advance to secure your place. There is a minimum of 15 people required to run the Workshop which will take place on Thursday December 5th 2013 in Halla Tourmakeady at 8.00pm. Please bring scissors and secateurs. Anniversary
The weekend of November 29 and 30 will be a weekend of great celebration at Maire Lukes Bar and Restaurant, Tourmakeady, it will mark the 30th anniversary of the Philbins in business.
On Friday, November 29, the venue welcomes back John and Maureen, plus lots of surprises. On Saturday, November 30, from Monaghan, comes the brilliant Rula Bula with lots of spot prizes on the night.

New baby
Congratulations to Norina and Thomas Hession, Partry, on the birth of their baby son, Samual. The new baby is grandson for John Hession, Partry, and Kathleen and Paddy Gibbons, Tawnagh, Tourmakeady.
Dancing classes
A new series of dancing classes have started at Partry Community Centre. The classes continue each Friday night with a popular dance teacher. You can learn the foxtrot, waltz, jive, etc.
