His remains were removed from his parents’ home in Tourmakeady to St. Mary’s Church, for Requiem Mass, which was celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P., Ballyovey, assisted by Fr. Con Eustace, Ballinrobe. Readings were by relatives of John and his wife Genette. Hymns were played by Noreen Maloney and a reflection was given by Genette.
A guard of honour was formed by work mates of John from Irish Pride Bakery and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery of Tourmakeady church.
John is survived by his wife Genette, daughter Niamh, stepson Ashley, parents Maureen and John, mother-in-law Bernie, sister Michelle and Rob, brother David and Sarah, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and grandaunt Nora, and a large circle of relatives, work mates and friends.
