Cúrsa i bhfiontraíocht Gnó/ Business Enterprise Course. Tá súil ag Údarás na Gaeltachta cúrsa i bhFiontraíocht Gnó a eagrú i dTuar Mhic Éadaigh ar an 6ú Samhaino má tá a ndóthain éileamh. Údarás na Gaeltachta Business Enterprise Course in Tuar Mhic Éadaigh starting on 6th November. The course is aimed at those who wish to start their own business or people who are in business already. The course will run one night a week for 4 weeks for 2 ½ hours. The course will cover Risk Management, Research and Marketing Skills, Tourism, Corporate Rules, Law, Vat, Selling Skills and State Funding etc. The course will commence on 6th November from 7.00pm to 9.30pm €20.00 registration fee payable on the first night. The 27th season of the annual Tourmakeady Waterfall Magazine has arrived and the usual request goes out for much wanted material including old and new photographs, articles, poems, history and advertisements for full and half pages.
Thanks to all the hard working voluntary committee. It is hoped everything will be in by November 1.
New baby girl
Congratulations to Laura and Brendan Prendergast, Gortmore, Tourmakeady, on the birth of their baby daughter Aine Mary, at Mayo General Hospital.
She is a welcome granddaughter for Mary and Willie Prendergast, Tourmakeady and Ann and Padraig Duffy, Killawalla.
Colaisti Muire draw
Well done to the recent winners of the Colaisti Muire 50-50 draw held each Friday at Colaisti Mhuire, Tourmakeady. The last two winners were on October 4, Jimmy Gibbons, Trianlar, €245 and October 11, Dara Walsh, Tawnagh and Galway, €290.
It is a huge success and there are new members each week. Tickets are on sale in local shops and public houses. Winner of the October 18 draw was Daniel Tiernan, Tawnagh, Tourmakeady. He will receive €207. The draw takes place every Friday at the Colaisti.
On Friday, November 1, the mid-term, the draw will go on as usual and tickets will be collected from the usual outlets. Thank you for all your support.
Sympathy
Sympathy is extended to Nora Lydon, Tourmakeady, on the death of her brother Michael Jennings, formerly of Ballinrobe. Burial has taken place in New York where he passed away.
Michael was uncle of Sean Lydon and Sharon Lavin, Cathy O’Toole and Maureen Staunton, Carmel Heveran, Partry and brother-in-law of Sean Lydon (senior). Sympathy is also extended to all the Jennings family, Ballinrobe.
Coffee night proceeds
The Tourmakeady branch of Mayo-Roscommon Hospice is delighted to hand over the sum of €871.70, representing the total collected at a recent coffee night in Tourmakeady Hall. Thanks to all concerned especially Ann and the staff of Idoman Company, Killateeaun for their contribution.
Partry residents bonus number game winners
Winners of Partry residents bonus number game on October 5, were Katie Feerick and Johnny Horan, and on October 12, Nora Lally. They received €100 each. The next draw will be on Saturday, at 8 p.m.

South West Mayo Development Company Ltd., 2013 GMIT Bursary Grant Scheme South West Mayo Development Company through its delivery of the Local Community Development Programme 2013 has allocated a small fund to assist A SMALL number of students to continue or complete their studies at GMIT Castlebar Campus. South West Mayo Development Company Ltd., 2013 GMIT Bursary Grant Scheme South West Mayo Development Company through its delivery of the Local Community Development Programme 2013 has allocated a small fund to assist A SMALL number of students to continue or complete their studies at GMIT Castlebar Campus. The support will assist the student with the payment of the required registration fees at GMIT Castlebar campus. The late Nora McDonnell TOURMAKEADY has bid farewell to one of its best known and one of the oldest residents of the community, Mrs. Nora McDonnell (née Barker) of Gortmore, Tourmakeady, who was in her 89th year.
Predeceased by her husband Tony some years ago, Nora was a hard-working and very active woman. She was the perfect gardener, a great housekeeper, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
On Thursday, September 27, her remains were removed to St. Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady, and following prayers, Nora’s favourite song, ‘Gentle Mother’, was rendered to the attendance.
Burial took place on Friday, September 28, following 11 a.m. Mass celebrated by Fr. John Kenny, P.P.
Readings were given by Martin Hayes, son-in-law, and Shauna Barker, grandniece. Communion reflections were given by Ann Barker, Jim McDonnell and Nora’s grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Mary, sons Jim and Tony, son-in-law Martin Hayes, daughter-in-law Ann McDonnell, sister-in-law Annie Barker, grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and a large circle of cousins and friends.
May her soul rest in peace.

On Fridays, from early November, everyone is invited to a series of social dancing where jiving, waltzing and foxtrots will be on the agenda.

Death
The death has taken place in Galway of Mrs. Nora McDonnell, Gortinmore, Tourmakeady. Burial took place in Tourmakeady following Mass on Friday last.

There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto on September 21. The numbers drawn were 11, 16, 18 and 24. The jackpot now stands at €5,700.

Ruby wedding
Congratulations go to Irene and John Farragher, Carrawina, Partry, on celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary at the weekend.
It was September, 1973, when John took Hollymount girl Irene Tigue as his bride. They were blessed with three children - Adrian, John and Aisling.
Continued good health and many more celebrations for John and Irene.
First winner
Well done to Niamh Gielty, a sixth year student from Castlebar, on winning the first 50/50 draw at Colaisti Mhuire, Tuar Mhic Eadaigh. Niamh won a total of €225.

Death
The death has taken place in Galway of Mrs. Nora McDonnell, Gortinmore, Tourmakeady. Burial took place in Tourmakeady following Mass on Friday last.

Lotto
There was no winner of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto on September 21. The numbers drawn were 11, 16, 18 and 24. The jackpot now stands at €5,700.
The consolation winners were Toomas Burke, Clonbur, Brendan Gilmore, Ruth Ni Eanachan, Pairc a Tampaill, Tom Hession, Portroyal, and Eithne Hennessy, Kilkerran.

Partry Community Centre activities
The following events will take place in Partry Community Centre for the coming months.
Bingo will commence on Monday, October 7, at 8.45 p.m. There will be two jackpots and lots of raffles.
On Fridays, from early November, everyone is invited to a series of social dancing, where jiving, waltzing and foxtrots will be on the agenda.
A well-known teacher will be present and those interested are asked to give their names to members of the community council at (094) 9543022 or (086) 3827159. Numbers are limited.
Colaiste Muire lotto
Colaiste Muire lotto will take place to assist in the high costs of running and maintaining the college.
A winner will be drawn each week. Tickets are €2 each and are available in Colaiste Muire, the post offices at Tourmakeady, Finney and Partry, Máire Luke’s, Walsh’s, Killawalla, McEvillys, Killawalla, and John Pat Scott’s, Aughagower.

Aughagower AC
Tourmakeady is joining Aughagower AC. Anyone interested is asked to come along to a training session.
Children born in 2003 and younger are on Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. Children born in 2002 or older are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m.
Training is held in the Westport County Lodge Hotel when weather permits or in Aughagower Community Centre.

Confirmation will be celebrated in Partry Church on February 14 next for the pupils of Killateaun, Tourmakeady and Partry.
Ruby wedding
Congratulations go to Irene and John Farragher, Carrawina, Partry, on celebrating their ruby wedding anniversary at the weekend.
It was September, 1973, when John took Hollymount girl Irene Tigue as his bride. They were blessed with three children - Adrian, John and Aisling.
Continued good health and many more celebrations for John and Irene.
First winner
Well done to Niamh Gielty, a sixth year student from Castlebar, on winning the first 50/50 draw at Colaisti Mhuire, Tuar Mhic Eadaigh. Niamh won a total of €225.
