Hall Renovation Update
THE community centre will be staffed for part of next week. To check that someone is in attendance please call 094 95 44295. The renovation work on the hall is continuing and as you can see work on the new extension and the internal works are in progress.

ANYONE who is on social welfare, unemployed, in receipt of the fuel allowance may be eligible for standard subsidised insulation of their home for a payment of €125.00. For a form please telephone 094 95 43991.

THE Social Welfare officer is in attendance at the Medical Centre on Wednesdays 12 noon to 1.00pm
Recycling
Due to work in progress at the hall the recycling bins have a new temporary location it is at the picnic area in Shanvalleyard - where the big stone Failté is. You are reminded not to leave litter on the ground or the roads.
Safety Reminder to all Walkers and in particular CHILDREN
PLEASE make sure that children are visible at night. Reports have been received of young children walking in the village without any reflective clothing. Drivers cannot see walkers at night in unlit areas.
Citizen’s advice
A CITIZEN’S information officer will be in attendance in the hall, on the Tuesday March 9, 2010 from 10.30am – 12.30pm and again on April 21 2010 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The officer has information on social welfare, health board payments, taxation, housing and single farm payments. The service is available in English and Irish.
Tourmakeady GAA lotto results
THERE was no outright winner of the Tourmakeady GAA local lotto. The draw was held at the Lough Inn, Partry. The jackpot is now at €6,700. The next draw is at the Lough Mask Inn, Tourmakeady, on Saturday, February 27.
The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 12 and 22. The consolation winners were Cliodhna Ní Chonghaile, Billy Prendergast, Gortmore, Eddie Gibbons, Gortnacullin, Sarah Mulroe, Gortinmore and Carmel Garvey, Tourmakeady.
The numbers drawn last week were 3, 8, 15 and 20. The consolation winners were Warren Turner, Pat Durcan, Partry; David O’Toole, Cappaduff; Rosaleen Warde, Partry and Michael McDermott, Partry.
Next week’s sellers are Sean agus Padraig. Tickets at €2 are on sale throughout the parish. All money spent on the lotto stays in the parish for further club development.
Bereavement
THE death has taken place at her residence of Mrs. Sarah Keane, Derrypark, Tourmakeady. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, in 1990. Large crowds attended the removal of her remains from the Burke funeral parlour, Clonbur, on Sunday, February 14, (which would have been Sarah’s 93rd birthday), to the church of the Immaculate Conception, Finney. Burial took place on Monday, in Churchfield cemetery, after 12 noon Mass, in Finney.
Sarah is survived by her daughters Mary and Ann, sons Peader, Padraig, James and Gabriel and also grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and extended family members. May her soul rest in peace.
Confirmation on Friday
ON Friday, February 26, at 1 p.m. 30 pupils from Partry, Killitiane and Tourmakeady national schools will be confirmed at St. Mary’s church, Partry, by Archbishop Michael Neary.

THE last few Waterfall magazines 2009 are available at the Village Inn, Partry, Cummins, Ballinrobe and Máire Lukes, Tourmakeady.
Haiti fund
THE Gena Heraty Haiti fund received two great donations last week from Partry. At a charity table quiz held at The Lough Inn, Partry, a total of €850 was raised on Sunday, February 14. Also during the week the 5th and 6th classes of Partry national school organised a cake sale and a total of €518.75 was raised. Everyone who made both events possible is thanked.
Michael Walsh league success
TOURMAKEADY footballers got back to winning ways on Saturday last in the Mayo Michael Walsh league. Tourmakeady defeated Kilmeena 5 to 8 in Kilmeena.

THE most recent winners of the Tourmakeady hall renovation draw are Nancy and Tom Heneghan and also Michael and Kitty Kelly, who receive €100 for choosing number four.

ON stage at Máire Lukes Bar and Restaurant on Friday, February 26, is the Paddy Hoban Sound, with a show for young and old.

TOURMAKEADY trout anglers are holding their annual general meeting, at Máire Lukes, Tourmakeady, on Saturday, February 27, at 9 p.m. sharp. All members and new members are invited to attend this meeting.
Sincere sympathy
SYMPATHY is extended to Michael Power, Tourmakeady, on the death of his sister Theresa Foley, in England. Burial took place in Leytonstone, on Friday, February 19. Theresa’s mother-in-law will also be laid to rest this week. May they both rest in peace.
Also the death has taken place of Mrs. Bridget Laffey, Chicago, USA, daughter of Breege Staunton and the late Michael Staunton.
She is survived by her husband Michael Laffey and son Michael, daughter Jennifer and brothers and sisters.
Bridget was laid to rest on Monday, February 15, after 10 a.m. Mass in Chicago.
The late Margaret Laffey was niece of Noreen Farragher, Shangort, Tourmakeady and Kathleen Harness, Ballinrobe. May her soul have eternal peace.
Also the death has taken place on Thursday, February 18, of Michael Heneghan, Ballygarry, Partry and formerly Chicago and Drimcoggy, Tourmakeady, in his 85th year. He was predeceased by his wife Ellen (nee Lally, Glensaul)
His remains were removed from St. Mary’s funeral home, to Tourmakeady church. Burial took place on Friday, following 12 noon Mass, celebrated by Fr. Padraig Standún cc, assisted by Canon Desmond Grogan, Partry.
Michael is survived by his sister Mary Staunton, Drimcoggie, Tourmakeady and Nora Walsh, Killawalla, Westport and also nieces, nephews and extended family members. May his soul rest in peace.

65th wedding anniversary celebrations
HEARTIEST congratulations to a well-known Tourmakeady couple, who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on February 5.
Tommy Lally, Derryveeney and May McGing, were married on February 5, 1945. They were blessed with two sons, Michael, (Miley, Glenroe) and Tommie and also five daughters, Teresa, Maria, Sarah, Nuala and Rita.
The community wishes May and Tommy good heath and continued happiness in the years ahead.

Safety Reminder to all Walkers and in particular children
PLEASE make sure that children are visible at night. Reports have been received of young children walking in the village without any reflective clothing. Drivers cannot see walkers at night in unlit areas.

65th wedding anniversary celebrations
HEARTIEST congratulations to a well-known Tourmakeady couple, who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on February 5.
Tommy Lally, Derryveeney and May McGing, were married on February 5, 1945. They were blessed with two sons, Michael, (Miley, Glenroe) and Tommie and also five daughters, Teresa, Maria, Sarah, Nuala and Rita.
The community wishes May and Tommy good heath and continued happiness in the years ahead.

As part of their fundraising campaign, the club will hold a bag packing day at Tesco, Ballinrobe, on Saturday, February 13. The committee ask parents and children over 14 to contact Jackie Brady at (086) 2401074 or Jackie Heneghan at (087) 2126777 to arrange their two-hour slot.

A DEER management programme has commenced in the Partry and Tourmakeady area and the cooperation of landowners is sought from a committee representing farmers who are coordinating the programme.

Remembrance service
AN ecumenical service of remembrance for children who have died prior to birth or in their childhood years takes place in Castlebar church on February 5 at 8 p.m.
Anyone who has experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, a stillbirth or termination is welcome.
In particular, the service commemorates the lives of children who died in Mayo General Hospital during 2009, or whose parents received care from the hospital during the year.
One of the themes of the service is that while your child may have died, your bond and relationship with them will live on.

As part of their fundraising campaign, the club will hold a bag packing day at Tesco, Ballinrobe, on Saturday, February 13. The committee ask parents and children over 14 to contact Jackie Brady at (086) 2401074 or Jackie Heneghan at (087) 2126777 to arrange their two-hour slot.
